Knocked down by a truck Riley wakes on another world. Her ex boyfriend Jothur has transported her there to help his people learn to shield their telepathic minds, although he doesn't tell Riley this. She dreams of two Jothurs, the blond boyfriend and a dark mysterious man. Danger threatens Riley and she flees to the Mutes. The non-psychic Mutes, led by Tynan, will be destroyed if Jothur's people learn to mind shield. Riley must use the Riddle of the Keys to learn the truth of Sacra's past and decide who to support in the battle for the future.

Her Prince Charming, Jothur, is the heir-apparent to the throne. The people of Sacral are divided between the telepaths, led by King Hurat, and the nontelepathic Mutes, led by the mysterious Tynan. The war is destroying not only the people but the land itself. Only the true king can repair the damage and unite the warring factions. A children's tale reveals a way to reveal the true king--a series of six keys hidden the castle. Riley must choose between trying to find a way home and trying to help determine the true king before Sacral is destroyed forever.
I read this book in a single sitting, could not put it down. This story is unique and engaging, the characters revealed strengths and weaknesses in turns. Riley has both humor and sarcasm down to a fine art, and is both observant and open-minded. She goes from knowing her life path to having to choose between Earth and Sacral, and Jothus and Tynan. Love the supporting cast, too - both human and non. Terrific escapism reading!
