[close] A group dedicated to the reading in January of books from the Georgian era, written in Great Britain or Ireland in the 18th and early 19th centuries, during the reigns of the four Georges and the Regency, and we'll include the short Williamite period, which brings us up to, but not including, the Victorian era. For the purposes of this group, please confine your reading to books written and first published between 1714, when George I took the throne, and 1837, when William IV died and Victoria's reign began. Suggested authors: Jane Austen, Fanny Burney, Lord Byron, Daniel Defoe, Henry Fielding, Matthew Lewis, Ann Radcliffe, Samuel Richardson, Mary Shelley, Percy Blythe Shelley, Walter Scott, Tobias Smollett, Jonathan Swift, Horace Walpole, William Wordsworth, etc.
