I think about this book way too often. By far my favorite book I have read for school, and one of my favorite books of all time. Gatsby is such an interesting character, and it is hard not to get attached to all of the characters. Another interesting thing that I remember about the book is how it was also hard to like them completely. They were very realistic characters and I will forever be amazed by FItzgerald's timeless writing. 10/10.

Also not to mention the literal plot hole in the last few chapters when she talks about how many years her sister lost due to all of those dresses… but the point of the life as currency is that they die in that moment for a certain amount of time.. like do we not remember that?! I thought that was pretty important.

I seriously do not like Scarlett.. at all. She always thinks she’s right, when i literally cannot recall a single instance of her being so. She constantly thinks she’s right, and when she is wrong she never corrected herself. Julian deserves better.

So long story short: Scarlett sucks, Julian is alright, and I really, really, REALLY dislike the cliche plot points. Like cmon. The book would’ve been eons better if Tella died and Scarlett finally got some sense knocked into that empty brain of hers.

Get this book away from me. The only reason this book is 2 stars is because I genuinely enjoyed Julian’s character for the first half of the book. That and i also did not mind the fact that Legend is still a faceless character.. maybe. BUT BESIDES THAT.. This book is the biggest nothing burger to ever exist.

Oh, Julian AND Tella died and our FMC is finally pushed into a distressing and interesting conflict? Oh, no.. TRUE LOVE FIXES IT. im so serious. True love?!?? In my 18 years of life, never have i EVER seen an author seriously use the true love conquers all trope. AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON DANIEL DEENGL. You couldn’t have thought of a more creative name? Maybe something less on the nose?!! Surely Scarlett knew Tella wasn’t that F-ING DUMB. Literally tell me you know absolutely nothing about your sister without telling me that.

Every single time Scarlett was put into a situation, she would somehow magically come out of it okay.. and then learn absolutely nothing from it. Made a mistake at the clock shop? Oh no, let me just completely forget that lesson and abandon Julian a few more times and get him killed. ON THAT NOTE ACTUALLY.. if you want to kill a character, KEEP HIM DEAD. I understand how Dante and Julian are still alive due to them being actors, but Ms. Garber should’ve realllyyy considered leaving Tella dead.
