Eco's approach is anything but dry and academic. He not only offers practical advice but also considers larger questions about the value of the thesis-writing exercise. Second Lispector after Agua Viva. I think I’m getting a sense of her style, which is hard to grasp because she seems to reinvent her style with each text. But there seems to be a common motif of the moment/God/meditation, and it shoots me into space so gently.

Wish I had the intellectual accumulation to actually enjoy this book. I didn’t translate any of the the latin phrases out of laziness (which I regret). I honestly read this book feeling dumb and it took me about 6 months to finish it. Nevertheless looking forward to reading Eco’s other books and essays. I remember when my middle school history teacher introduced him to me.
