I read this book on Kindle Unlimited. I enjoyed the suspense in the story. There was just enough mystery to keep you off balance, but not so much that the plot was far-fetched. This is an enchanting Christian allegory, set in a fantasy world. My favorite part is the creativity of symbolism with "the music on the breeze." I loved how the religious leaders tried to control exactly what the people could hear, being afraid of losing their power if people heard "the music on the breeze" for themselves. But as Gwenla's secrets are revealed, Julyiah risks everything to stand for the truth. Eventually, the music is free to flow throughout the fortress, yet some people are unable to hear it.
It's a unique and creative story, appealing to readers as young as middle grade and as old as senior adults. But I would probably call it a young adult fantasy.

Wow! I started reading this book and couldn't put it down! Parker and Chelsea have a great chemistry, clashing at first and coming together in a sweet romance. I loved the way Snitker developed the characters, gradually revealing the past that had scarred them inside and out. It was beautiful to watch them grow and learn to trust and love. All around great book! I highly recommend this one to anyone who loves Christian romance or sweet romance.

This is my first time to read one of Melanie Snitker’s books, so I didn’t know what to expect. Some Christian fiction is very preachy, and I feel like I’m being lectured or scolded. Others have a trite plot where a character that isn’t a believer accepts Christ as his or her Savior, and suddenly all of their problems are solved. Thankfully, Finding Courage isn’t like those books.

This is my first book by Rebekah Lyn, but definitely not my last. I just attempted to read a Christian book by another author, and it was so boring, trite, and unrealistic, I couldn’t bring myself to finish it. I love the “realness” of the characters in Summer Storms, especially Lizzie. She was flawed, but lovable—a character with real depth—someone I could actually relate to. I like the way the characters in the book learn to deal with the storms in their lives—both physical storms and stormy events—with the help of God. I hate when the plot seems contrived to present the Christian story, and Rebekah never does that. The message flows naturally out of the lives of the characters. Well written and well edited. Highly recommended.

I was caught up in this story from the very beginning, and it kept me up until late in the night. I love paranormal books that aren't about vampires and werewolves, so this book was right up my alley. There was a light, clean romance and lots of action. I really loved the background story and felt like I could relate to the main character. There were parts that were predictable, but enough surprises to keep me turning the pages to find out what happened. I love it when that happens! The main characters are in their twenties, but the book still feels "young adult" to me, as the main character is definitely "coming of age". I saw other reviews complained of errors, but I think they may have already been corrected in the book I bought.

Parents of middle graders, please note that I have bumped Ella Wood into the young adult genre. Emily is now sixteen, standing at the edge of war and struggling with questions of morality, purpose, and love. Slavery, dealt with so carefully in my series for young readers, is shown in a much harsher light, and some themes are adult in nature. A "clean" read, Ella Wood is nevertheless intended for an audience of some maturity.

I did not read the Middle-Grade prequel to this book, but I didn't feel lost at any point of the story. I have only two criticisms out of the entire book, and these things are a matter of personal preference. I'm not at all fond of a love triangle in which the girl can't recognize to whom she is drawn, simply because this is a situation I could never fathom for myself. And second, I don't care for books that end on a cliff-hanger, and this one certainly does.
Yet despite these personal complaints, I can't help liking this book and recommending it. It is that well-written. I will almost guarantee, if you read this book, you'll accomplish absolutely nothing until you've reached the end of it. And then you will complain that there isn't more to read. Ella Wood is an enchanting, well-written tale of a young determined woman, set in the deep south on the verge of civil war. This is a fun, sweet romance that kept me turning the pages until late at night when I finally finished. The heroine, Nikki, is a new teacher who encounters a sexy coach and a sweet campus cop on the first day of school. The stage is set for a crazy, mixed-up plot that keeps you guessing all the way through. I felt just the right amount of frustration with Nikki for not clearing up the confusion when she had the opportunity. Especially since I wasn’t ready for the book to end. I laughed out loud several times at the funny escapades so deftly described in the book. I often forgot I was reading and felt, instead, I was watching a romantic comedy movie. (And this book would make a great movie.)

I loved this book. The author catches your attention from the start. A girl awakens, battered and weak, with no memory, only to be rescued by a handsome elf. She, of course, has a destiny to fulfill. She is plunged into a new world with strange creatures, and the juxtaposition of her Texas upbringing in this fantasy world brings a bit of humor. There is a great ebb and flow to the plot. Just as you begin to relax and thing all will be well, another crisis occurs.

I am proof that you don’t have to read these books in order. I started with number three, and I still haven’t read book one, Prince of Alasia, but I’m sure I will.

I've read a lot of YA books. I've gotten rather tired of all of the YA books with vampires and werewolves, and all of the YA post-apocalyptic themes. This book has a fresh new world with interesting people and cultures. Even though these people are quite different from our modern day culture, you can easily relate to everything that's happening. That's because the theme is all about relationships, understanding each other, learning to forgive, standing up for what is right, learning to make altruistic decisions. That's why YA books can offer so much. The characters in a great YA book will learn and change and grow as the story progresses. That's what makes this book one of the great ones! You get to see growth and development in multiple characters. And none of the people in the book are flat, uni-dimensional characters--the adult characters are interesting, as well.
The author does such a great job of telling the story from varying points of view. You simply can't help but love Korram. But you'll also love Ernth and Thel and many other characters. I even loved the horses. I look forward to reading the other books in the Annals of Alasia.

I don’t read a lot of mysteries, so this was a bit of a departure for me. But I was pleasantly surprised. The author does a great job developing the characters and the relationships, which is always my favorite part in any book I read. Even when I read spy thrillers, I have to have an emotional connection with the characters or I don’t care what happens to them. Adair does a great job establishing that connection. There was plenty of romance with lots of anticipation (the best part in my opinion), but no excess description of sexual acts or body parts. Steam without the slut.
