I enjoyed the fact that we dont really meet any mmc until 50 percent through the book. The plot is interesting enough and I do appreciate the differing personalities that the MMC'S exhibit.

I do wish a little more actually happened throughout though. We meet a lot of key players and get the basics of their missions but thats really it. I think maybe 100 more pages would have been perfect to explore more . Especially if this is supposed to be a duet. I've been obsessed with reaching for this book as often as I can. It is above all a story of desire, intention, and choice. About what one will do in the moments those are threatened to be taken from us.

While Claudia is the main character, I actually feel like we get to see every side character tested in a way. We see individual morals clash and many lies told, not always for the better. Its beautifully done and explores the different mistakes people make in times of desperation.

Its a great reminder that no one is above desire, not even the gods. The complex mindset desire can put us in might drive us mad with lust but also just as mad with violence.

I originally came at this with the wrong mindset... which I now realize was truly standing in the way of my understanding of not only Freud as a person, but also this book in its entirety. Once removing the doctor aspect of it I feel like I could finally follow what Freuds intentions are. Incredible. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I got swept up in this novel. The themes (especially for its time) are ground breaking. I love the interwoven character arcs and how convoluted it all really was. A FMC that actually stands up for herself against her bonds and holds too it??? Oh I ate it UP.

Jupiter refuses to take shit and I love her for it. It was incredibly refreshing to see A FMC who doesnt take the grovel and instead respects herself enough to know what she deserves.
