I wrote this book!

This was the culmination of years of writer's block with the barest inkling of an idea of a girl who had a deadly secret, and the desire for someone to say "no matter what you are, I love you all the same" always flitting through my head. Sometimes it takes a long time for an idea to take form and I'm grateful I had the support and encouragement of family, friends, and fellow writers to stick with it until the story was ready to be born.

I wrote this book for myself and anyone else who always saw themselves in both the knight and the princess of fairy tales. I wrote it for anyone who wanted to love both characters as well. I wrote it for people who grew up believing one thing and realized that not all they were taught was truth. We're all growing and learning and trying to be better while accepting ourselves for who we are.

It's taken years to get here and I'm so glad I made it. I really enjoyed this read. I wasn't entirely sure what I was going to get into nor how swashbuckling it would be--pirates aren't necessarily my top interest--but instead I found a book that was easy to follow and enjoyable. The world was believable. Was terminology and action of the pirates and their locations accurate? Beats me. But I didn't care either. I was just enjoying the story and eager to see what happened next. The book itself is beautifully done. The art, the layout, it was all breathtaking and amazing. One of my favorite book covers of this year. Kit has great character growth; he starts off kind of pompous and annoying but with each page I saw him change and reconsider his opinions of the world and grew to love him and cheer him on. It completes with a satisfying end that won't leave readers disappointed. Although, I must say, I'm a little sad to see the characters go.
