I like Keller's writing very much and have this book on hold, wait time about 7 weeks. It's been highly recommended to me, but I never got around to it. His approach is how God shows His grace to both fallen sinners and more legalistic believers, exemplified in the two sons. Sometimes I'll look for books that are set in a particular area that I'm drawn to, and Appalachia is one of those (others are New England, the South, and the United Kingdom). I think it started way back when I first read Christy not long after it was written. I'm not sure why I feel this pull - maybe it's the unique people, their character, determination, or the hauntingly beautiful mountains. I grew up in the Atlanta area, but all of my relatives lived in the north GA mountains with a similar Appalachian feel. No coal miners in my family, but there was a lot that I could relate to.

What did you think of Larkin? And Judd?
