Great start to a legendary career for McDevitt. We can see ideas that he will later recycle, particularly the news flashes. I read the weathered original and was not bothered by the Soviet references being old enough to remember the Cold War, it made the book that much more interesting. Yes, there are also a few clumsy things in there, but overall I liked Harry and Leslie and like many of the characters was not sure what the right thing was with regard to the Text.
