This one’s really hard to rate, because I loved the first book, hated the second and kinda liked the third. The whole story is so fucking weird, no explanation, no conclusion, just vibes and ecological horror. And the first one did it SO well. Honestly, in my opinion you don’t really need much further than that. The second could have literally been an email, I didn’t like Control and the prose was verbose to a point where I skipped over whole paragraphs because I knew they would just contain more words than anyone would need to describe the scene. The third was a bit better, mostly because the POVs rotated and we got to see a bit more of Area X again. It’s great how utterly strange and horrifying that was.

This was honestly such a great mystery/thriller. The small town vibes were everybody knows at the same time too much yet too little about their neighbours. The paranoia, the past creeping in and making things difficult.

The whole story - while not rushed at all - pulls you in and just makes you want to know what happened. Really enjoyed Falk as a detective caught between his sense of duty and his own past in Kiewarra."
