it was amazing
A guided tour through seven great stories. What I found wonderful about this work is that it focuses on structure and the undeniable impact the story has upon the reader. You learn to watch yourself change as you read, and just for that, the book is valuable.

Unlikeable characters (there's a secondary protagonist you actually want to punch in the face) meet a science-fantasy plot. Baseline reality relies on "narrative" instead of physics, heaven and hell are real, souls are real... This is a magic system, not science fiction, though it is couched in science fiction tropes and mechanics.
