This is a book I kept reading for the plot. The impossibility of the blood trials themselves and the development of the war were what motivated me to keep reading. The writing style of this book felt very YA in the sense that nothing was left up to interpretation. This was so good! It was so fairytale and magical and had a very storytelling vibe. The world building and lore in this book is so rich and unique. It truly felt like anything could happen as far as the kinds of magic and the creatures and the setting. Arris is such a dumb lover boy and is easily fooled, but I love how in awe he is of the world.
