Sharron S.K. Leung
Dr. Sharron Leung is the head of nursing education and the founding head of the department at The Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). She started her nursing career in 1985 and obtained her PhD in 2001. Dr. Leung began her academic career at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) the same year. In 2018, she established a new department for nursing education and successfully led HKBU to be a new Registered Nurses Gazette School and obtain approval from the NCHK for the Bachelor of Nursing (Hons) program. The program uniquely puts emphasis on spirituality and health equity for students to serve underprivileged populations in partnerships with non-government organizations. Dr. Leung took leadership positions in several professional bodies, including chairperson of the Hong Kong Society for Nursing Education and vice president of the former Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Pi Iota Chapter, and the recently established Pi Iota At-Large Chapter. She was a founding fellow of the Hong Kong College of Education and Research in Nursing and acted as the vice president from 2012 to 2018. Her research expertise in the field of perinatal and psychosocial research has been well recognized internationally. She sat on review boards for international peer-reviewed journals and competitive grants. In recent years, Dr. Leung has extended her research to promoting spirituality and spiritual care among undergraduate students and healthcare professionals.
