Werner Rath

Prof. Dr. med. h.c. Werner Rath is a distinguished specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology, Perinatal Medicine, and Hemostaseology. He serves as a Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics on the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Kiel and formerly held the position of Chief of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at University Hospital Aachen. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Alexandroupolis. A prolific researcher whose citable publications date back to 1977, Dr. Rath has authored numerous scientific articles and 13 book chapters and frequently serves as a peer reviewer for leading medical journals. He also served as Chief Editor of the German Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Geburtshilfe und Frauenheilkunde, Thieme). His lifelong dedication to maternal and fetal medicine has earned him several prestigious accolades, including the Staude-Pfannenstiel Award from the Northern German Society of Gynecology & Obstetrics, the Maternité Award from the German Society of Perinatal Medicine in Berlin, and the Harald-Bräutigam Award in Hamburg.
