The developing technological infrastructure has accelerated the evolution of nanoscience and encouraged the use of nanomaterials in very large areas. However, environmental liberation of nanomaterials can pose potential risks. Although different toxicity screening methodologies have been successfully used to assess the potential risks of these substances, little is known about their environmental impact. Fish are the most visible members of the aquatic ecosystem, vulnerable to toxicants. Although the ecotoxicology of fish and nanoparticles are complex, this review evaluates approaches to using catfish as a bio-indicator for the effects of nanoparticles on fish.

Global environmental problems have led societies to seek more sustainable production and consumption methods in every social field. Although the food sector has contributed significantly to global environmental issues, there has been little interest in terms of research. Family businesses have an important share and contribution in the world economy. With this definition, this study was conducted on family-run enterprises in aquaculture in Erzurum and its districts. Our aim is to demonstrate that the success of family business enterprises in ensuring continuity can be used as a method to prevent migration in rural agricultural areas. Study has been underlined that aquaculture farmers continue their family businesses because their work satisfies them economically, but it is not possible to create continuity in this type of business without state support in unfavorable economic conditions.

Aquaculture is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the world, with a spectrum of food products that are important for health, as well as significant potential for rich waste. The utilization of these wastes has become a promising raw material due to the presence of organic substances that are suitable for different industrial uses and are more biodegradable. The unmet need to transform waste into functional and nutritious ingredients has provided motivation, especially in a process where the utilization and management of fish by-products are prioritized. With this motivation, the present review aims to identify and apply precursor analyses, especially in processing wastes, which are meaningful for other sectors such as medicine, medical, dental, cosmetics, agriculture, etc., and to establish a qualitative and quantitative usage prescription for waste groups. This body of knowledge will enable the introduction of aquaculture processing wastes as a source of intermediate/main raw materials as an alternative to component sources that are currently used for different purposes in different sectors. In addition, the potential of these wastes in terms of bioactive components for sectoral applications other than aquaculture will be revealed. The findings obtained will reveal which type of waste can be more useful for which sector, preventing waste of time, labor, and raw materials, and will provide very important data for green chemistry applications, especially in the field of health, as well as providing the opportunity to choose/compare between products by feeding the potential for more effective use.
