Carlos Juiz

Professor Carlos Juiz holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), Spain. He also holds a postgraduate degree in Office Automation Management from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain. Before joining the Department of Computer Science at the UIB, he held various positions in the IT industry. From 1990, he was a Systems Analyst at Xerox, becoming a Senior Analyst in 1999. He was a Visiting Researcher in the Department of Computer Science and Business Informatics at the University of Vienna in 2003, and a Visiting Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Stanford University in 2011. Carlos Juiz is the principal investigator of the ACSIC research group (http://acsic.uib.es), and his research interests focus primarily on performance engineering, Green IT, and IT governance. He has participated in 50 regional, national, European, and international research projects, including collaborative projects, primarily with universities in Paraguay, Colombia, Albania, Tunisia, Morocco, and Ecuador. He has participated in over 600 international conferences, workshops, and congresses as a reviewer, session chair, program committee chair, and especially as a member of the program or scientific committee. He is the co-author of more than 250 international articles (including journals, published reviews, critiques, conference proceedings, and book chapters) and two university textbooks. Carlos Juiz has given approximately 50 international seminars and has been invited to lecture at numerous prestigious universities worldwide. Carlos Juiz is a senior fellow of the IEEE and also a senior fellow of the ACM. He was also appointed a member of IFIP's Cloud Computing Domain Committee until 2017. He was Deputy Director of the Higher Polytechnic School (2004-2005) and Director of the Planning and Foresight Office at the University of the Balearic Islands (2005-2007). He served as the Rector's Delegate for New Technologies (2007-2011) and Vice-Rector for Information Technologies (2011-2013) at the UIB. Carlos Juiz was the director of the Telefónica Chair at the UIB (2012-2014). He is one of the executive vice-presidents of the TURISTEC cluster and also a member of the board of directors of the Balears.t cluster. Carlos Juiz is the coordinator of the IT Governance working group at AENOR, the Spanish ISO body, and co-editor of the ISO/IEC 38503 standard. He is currently the Deputy Director of the Laboratory for Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation (LEIS) at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). He has supervised nine doctoral theses and numerous master's theses, advanced studies projects, and undergraduate dissertations. He is currently a visiting professor at Keio University (Japan).
