Qatar is top foreign funder of US Higher Education, By 50%

Peloni:  The US Dept of Education posted a new interactive dashboard depicting the top ten foreign countries funding US colleges and universities.  Qatar lies at the top, making up for nearly 11% of all foreign funding to US colleges and universities, and nearly 50% more than the next highest donor.  Meanwhile the next 5 highest include Germany, England, China, Canada and Saudi Arabia, each of which spend about $4 billion, or about 6.5% of all foreign funding to higher education.

When looking at the specific institutions receiving the funding, we see that Harvard receives $4 billion per year, which is 6.4% of all foreign donations, and this is nearly a third more than the next highest recipient, Cornell University, which receives about $3 billion.

Socialism Works. Democratic Socialism Will Work Even Better

By Alexander G. Markovsky

Image via AI

Opponents of socialism often cite Cuba, Venezuela, and the former Soviet Union as evidence that the system “doesn’t work.” They argue that, unlike earlier economic arrangements — slavery, feudalism, and capitalism — each of which was explicitly organized around producing wealth, and each of those systems was superior to its predecessor in its capacity to generate it, socialism has failed to create a higher level of economic prosperity.

A Space-Based Solution to China’s Cable-Cutting Threat

Peloni:  Fascinating!

Janet Levy | Am Thinker | January 7, 2026

Image generated by ChatGPT.

In March last year, China unveiled a cable-cutting device capable of operating 4,000 meters underwater. This underscores a significant vulnerability that few consider: 99% of international data travels through about 600 subsea fiber optic cables, totaling nearly 1.48 million kilometers of cable susceptible to attack.

Yogi Berra, President Trump & the hope for a much better Middle East..

by Gerald A. Honigman

Screengrab via Youtube [Cropped]

Before beginning my actual response to current events involving President Trump’s welcome warning to the brutal Ayatollah and his mullah accomplices in the Islamic Republic of Iran—who don’t even consider themselves part of the proud ancestral Iranian/Aryan people and nation—I began the day by reading an article by The Free Press’s Johanna Berkman dealing with some tenured, pseudo-intellectual, know nothing, Left of Lenin Hebrew professor, Eric Cheyfitz, forcing an Israeli student out of his class dealing with the Gaza war.

THREE WAYS TO SLANT THE NEWS AGAINST ISRAEL

Dr. Rafael Medoff

There are many ways to slant the news against Israel. An article in the New York Times this week demonstrated three techniques.

The January 2 article, by staff correspondents Liam Stack and Jeffery C. Mays, focused on the Israeli government’s criticism of the decision by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to revoke two executive orders issued by his predecessor to combat antisemitism.

Slanting Technique #1:

Israel – an unpopular regional superpower

Peloni:  It is enough that Israel should be feared, that her detractors should grasp that attacking her will bring disaster, and that attempts to conquer her will bring about their downfall and humiliation.

Israel has made operational its latest defensive weapon, the Iron Beam. (Some critics say this gives Israel a disproportionate advantage. I hope so.) “Iron Beam” is a take-off on Iron Dome, the kinetic defensive shield that has protected Israel from the worst consequences of attacks against it. The Iron Beam offers low-cost laser interception of drones, rockets, and missiles, while reducing reliance on costly interceptors. Whereas the Iron Dome defense cost is about $50,000 per successful interception, the Iron Beam cost per interception is negligible. (Nevertheless, the Iron Dome will remain an important weapon in Israel’s arsenal.)

UTI POSSIDETIS JURIS AND ISRAEL

Peloni:  A must watch debate between Natasha Hausdorff and Dr Ariel Zemach over the issue of Uti Possidetis Juris as it applies to Israel.  It is informative that while Natasha remains fixed on international law and the clear application of it with regards to Israel no different than elsewhere, Dr. Zemach routinely addresses what he sees as moral outrage while also repeatedly imbuing the use of the term of “Palestinian People” when describing the Arabs of 1948 who never described themselves as such til literally decades afterwards when it suited their position to delegitimize Israel. Highly recommended video.  Here is the link to the article by Avi Bell and Eugene Kotorovich which Natasha refers to in the video: https://journals.librarypublishing.arizona.edu/arizlrev/article/6934/galley/6408/download/. More of Prof. Kontorovich’s explanaitions of uti possidetis juris can is also lined at the bottom.

The contemporary geopolitical landscape of the Middle East has witnessed unprecedented transformations in recent years, with the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia emerging as two of the region’s most influential powers. While both nations have undergone remarkable development under the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, their approaches to foreign policy have diverged significantly, reflecting fundamentally different philosophies about how to navigate an increasingly complex and non-traditional international environment.

AFSI Urges US To Pursue Hamas Bomber Ahlam Tamimi After Arrest Of Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro

Peloni:  Jordan is one of the greatest beneficiaries of US aid, and has received in excess of $33 billion since Ahlam Tamimi coordinated and celebrated the slaughter of the innocent people at a local restaurant.  The recurrent stream of politicians in Washington ring their hands and challenge the US State Dept and the Ambassador to Jordan on the issue of bringing this promoter of Jihadism and evil to justice in America for her crimes, and twenty five years later this Butcheress of Sbarro remains free, continuing to popularize her crimes, mock the dead, and defy any sense of justice for her continued support of Jihad and butchery, despite her being already indicted in the US and the US having significant and meaningful leverage over the Jordanian govt which is shielding her from prosecution.

Pro-Israel group says precedent set by Maduro arrest should apply to indicted terrorists who murdered Americans and evade justice abroad.

Far too often in the past 25 years, the United States has hesitated to stand firmly with Israel at the United Nations, allowing bias and double standards to harden into institutional routine. But that has changed. The Obama-Biden era at the world body is no more.
