Description

In Picnic in the Park, young readers will study words that follow the consonant-vowel-consonant pattern (CVC) as a little boy and his parents enjoy a day in the park. This book is set in Bangladesh. Each book in the series contains a word list, high-frequency words, and background information on the country featured in the book.

The Let’s Read Decodable Books Collection, a foundational literacy program from the Asia Foundation published exclusively in the US by Bebop Books, offers a set of thirty engaging stories organized to progress readers through specific and sequential phonics skills. These books adhere to an original, evidence-based scope and sequence that starts with foundational letter-sound correspondence and progresses to more complex phonemic relationships.

Written with the youngest phonics learners in mind, the Let’s Read Decodable Books Collection ensures each sentence provides optimal decoding practice, while also infusing unique cultural elements and a global perspective rarely seen in phonics books. These books were created by talented authors and illustrators from seven countries: the Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Cambodia, and Pakistan. While individual stories can be purchased and read as a standalone title, the Let’s Read stories are most effective as a set, and the collection includes the books, lesson plans, scope and sequence, and additional prompts for caregivers.
