50K steps. That was my commitment for the American Cancer Society's Fit2Be CEO Challenge - and earlier this week I made good on it, including a walk from my front door all the way to the U.S. Capitol. Challenging? Absolutely. Inspiring? More than I expected. I thought about my dad. He was taken by cancer, and not a week goes by that I don't feel that absence. He also spent more than 40 years working in Washington - these streets were his streets. I felt him everywhere. In the landmarks he knew by heart, in the city he gave so much of his life to, and in the simple act of showing up and doing something hard in his memory. That's what this challenge is really about - honoring the people we've lost, and fighting alongside the people still in the battle. The cause is worth every step.
