At this year’s Hotels on the Hill, several leaders from Aimbridge Hospitality joined hospitality professionals from across the country to advocate for policies that support the continued growth of our industry. Craig S. Smith, CEO, and other Aimbridge leaders participated in conversations with policymakers on issues shaping the future of hospitality. Discussions focused on workforce development, modernization of the H-2B visa program, restoring funding for Brand USA, and advancing the American Franchise Act to preserve the franchise business model that supports thousands of hotel owners and operators nationwide. This year’s event brought together advocates from 46 states and included more than 250 meetings with members of Congress, including 135 first-time advocates, underscoring the collective impact of our industry’s voice. The hotel industry employs more than 2.2 million people and contributes nearly $900 billion annually to the U.S. economy, creating meaningful career opportunities and driving growth in communities across the country. Thank you to the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) for coordinating this impactful event and for continuing to advocate on behalf of the hospitality industry. Chris O'Donnell, CHA, President of Select Service at Aimbridge Hospitality, sat down with Hospitality Daily to share how we're thinking about the future of the business and what it means to run hotels with intention. Chris shared how Aimbridge is deploying technology with purpose - not as a trend, but as a tool to give general managers their time back. Less time on forecasting and data entry, more time with guests and teams. Underpinning that approach is data: Aimbridge's cross-brand, cross-market analytics allow the team to benchmark true optimal performance and unlock profitability that year-on-year comparisons consistently miss. He went on to discuss how that mindset carries through to how performance is measured across the portfolio, with a balanced scorecard cascading from company-wide goals down to every property - building a culture of accountability at every level. For those considering a path in hospitality, Chris made one thing clear - this industry offers one of the most direct routes from entry-level to executive, and the opportunity to build something meaningful here has never been greater. Congratulations to Conrad Riddle on his recent promotion to Senior Vice President of Total Rewards & HR Technology. “In his 13 years with Aimbridge, Conrad has been a steady, trusted partner to me and to leaders across the company, bringing clarity to complex problems, a strong point of view grounded in data, and a relentless focus on doing what’s right for the business and our associates,” said Ann Christenson, CHRO. Conrad Riddle's path to Senior Vice President of Total Rewards & HR Technology at Aimbridge Hospitality started behind a Starbucks counter. As a high school barista, he learned that hospitalityisn't about technicalities—it's about people. Knowing customers' names and favorite drinks taught him that genuine connection drives exceptional service. After an internship with Disneyland's inaugural intern class and graduating with an HR degree, Conrad joined Evolution Hospitality as Director of Total Compensation and Safety. FollowingAimbridge's acquisition of Evolution, he was steadily promoted and evolved in his career: Director of Benefits, Director of Total Rewards, VP of Total Rewards, and VP of HR Shared Services, before his recent promotion to his current role, SVP of Total Rewards& HR Technology. What enabled this remarkable growth? Conrad points to Aimbridge's unique culture: "There aren't people here saying, 'that's not your job, stay out of it,' you can go wherever you need togo. There is a culture of 'if you have an aptitude and an interest, let's go.' We embrace an entrepreneurial spirit – be curious, bring your ideas, suggest solutions." His advice for those starting their careers at Aimbridge? Understand the business deeply. "Make sure you ask questions and learn about the hospitality functions and third-party managementspace. Where people may fall flat - they don't adapt their past experience to what makes this company unique." From working as a barista to leading enterprise HR transformation, Conrad's journey shows that great hospitality careers are built on the same foundation: putting people first, understanding the business, and never waiting for permission to grow. #AimbridgeHospitality #PathwaystoLeadership
