Untreated Kawasaki disease (KD) patients can develop coronary artery aneurysms (CAAs) with a prevalence of ~25%, whereas prompt treatment with intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) (2g/kg/dose) can reduce the risk to <5%. http://spr.ly/6043BBt0MS… KD management has succeeded in large experienced and economically advanced countries where research collaboration has been impactful. The collaboration is expected to benefit all consortia members proportionate to their contribution, especially for members from low and middle income countries. The ultimate goal, however, remains patients’ outcomes under a globally harmonized approach for optimal care.

Pulmonary embolism-related mortality increased between 2008 and 2018, underscoring its persistent and growing impact as a leading cause of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. By strengthening systems and advancing evidence-based, equitable and patient-centered care, we can improve patient outcomes. Watch the new Target: Pulmonary Embolism webinar to learn more. The American Heart Association’s Target: Pulmonary Embolism initiative is supported by Inari, now part of Stryker.

"I think I survived for a purpose, and my baby survived for a purpose, if I can help others get through what I went through. And I want to do that." Carolina was 6 months pregnant when she had a stroke caused by a blood clot in her brain. After a second stroke, her baby girl had to be delivered by C-section. She was just 4 pounds, 3 ounces. "Thankfully now I’m taking medications, being monitored by a hematologist and neurologist, and thanking God that my baby girl and I are both alive. I still have some left-side weakness but with patience, more therapy, and never giving up, I know I’ll continue to get better."
