About us
Neurological disorders are increasingly recognized as major causes of death and disability worldwide. Globally, in 2016, neurological disorders were the leading cause of disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) and second leading cause of deaths. Focusing on a need to understand neurological conditions, brain function and disorders, techniques, methods and devices to help patients, the Amrita Mind Brain Center will be dedicated towards exploration into the human mind and its links to the brain through multiple disciplines in science and technology. The Mind Brain Center at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has its research focus on Neuroscience, Cognition, Computations and Neuroengineering while pursuing immediate societal impact. With focus on brain and mind related health and technologies, the center will orchestrate the development and application new technologies to investigate brain function, dysfunction, and therapy.

I had the opportunity and was invited to present our recent findings relating to Yoga, Meditation and the underlying neuroscience that we explored at Amrita University. My talk was on #brain activity post #yoga training titled "Exploring Yogic Circuits and Brain mapping" at the International Conference on Frontiers in Yoga #Research & Applications (#INCOFYRA) held at S-VYASA University, Bengaluru. Pic Courtesy: Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana student, Tapsya Gupta. I was fortunate to be able to showcase the Amrita Mind Brain Center work of Dr. Sandeep Bodda, PhD, Sowmiya Krishna, Dr.Subin S. Dr. Chaitanya Nutakki & others. #Neuroscience #SuryaNamaskar #Trataka #brainmapping #Amrita

Students-led #research study titled “A Biochemical Systems Theory Model for Autoimmune Mechanisms in Alzheimer’s Disease: Simulating Aβ-induced #Necroptosis and #Necrosis” aimed to computationally model #autoimmune and #autoinflammatory pathways in Alzheimer’s #disease using the AD2 framework. The work applied a Biochemical Systems Theory (BST) approach to capture how Aβ-mediated #immune signaling may initiate self-sustaining neuroinflammatory cycles contributing to neurodegeneration. The research was carried out as part of the #BRITE 2025 program at the Amrita School of Biotechnology by students Maitrayee Ghosh, Varshini Ravikumar and Harish Kalaiselvi under the guidance of Dr. Asha Vijayan & Ms. Sowmiyakrishna G of Amrita Mind Brain Center & presented at the 7th International Conference on Computer & Communication Technologies (IC3T 2025), hosted by the Department of CSE (Data Science), School of Computing, Mohan Babu University, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, on 10 December 2025. The Computational Biosciences TAG of the Amrita School of Computing, Amritapuri, successfully conducted an engaging workshop titled “Bio Signals Unveiled: Interactive Analysis of EEG and Biomedical Data” on November 11, 2025. The session was led by Sandeep Bodda, PhD, Assistant Professor, Amrita Mind Brain Center, who guided participants through hands-on exploration of EEG and biomedical data analysis. Students actively participated in the interactive session, gaining valuable insights into real-time bio-signal processing and its applications in neuroscience and healthcare. The event provided an excellent platform for young researchers to bridge theory and practice — blending computational tools with biomedical innovation.
