One of Tuuli C's thrusters weighs roughly 30,000 lbs. This is the hardware that lets a tug move sideways into a berth, spin in place, or hold position against a current without turning the boat. Most vessels can't do that. Installing two of them meant building custom tooling and machining the hull on-site because the sealing joints on these things don't leave room for error. The electric side is where it gets interesting. No lag, instant torque. The thruster points, the motor responds. That's the difference between Tuuli C and every other tug at the Port of Long Beach and Port of Los Angeles. Next up: the powertrain to power them.
About us
Arc is a venture-backed startup electrifying the marine industry, and is headquartered in Los Angeles, California. Led by a team of former rocket engineers, we’re developing, manufacturing and delivering high-performance electric boats at lightning speed. The Arc One laid the foundation. The Arc Sport took it mainstream. Now, we’re scaling the movement across new segments until everything that floats is electric.

Arc reposted this
Snow & Company, Inc in Seattle has launched the Tuuli C, the first fully-electric ship-assist tug in an eight-vessel series for Curtin Maritime, Corp. California-based Arc is providing the 6-MWh battery and battery management system, producing more than 4,000 hp with 55 short tons of bollard pull. Twin 2,000-hp SCHOTTEL L-drives handle propulsion. https://lnkd.in/gSzRnNas

She's in the water. Tuuli C, the first of our eight electric tugboats, splashed earlier this week at Snow & Company, Inc in Seattle. Batteries and powertrain go in next. Sea trials this fall. Port of Long Beach after that with Curtin Maritime, Corp. The build continues.

All systems go. Our hybrid-electric tug, Tuuli C, is almost in the water. Size and scale: The hull alone is over 160 tons of steel. The tug will deliver 4,000 horsepower (basically the same as 10 Formula 1 cars). It will also have 55 tons of bollard pull. What does this mean? All this power enables more efficient operations, lower emissions, smoother schedules, and a higher standard for how commercial vessels perform. Paint is on. Thrusters are installed. Next up: the hull hits the water. Proud to be building this alongside Snow & Company, Inc and Curtin Maritime, Corp. Curious what this means for your operations? Reach out: commercial@arcboats.com

Lake Tahoe is one of the ecosystems we spend meaningful time in as a California-based company, which makes its protection especially important to us. This Earth Day, we’re recognizing that responsibility by highlighting our partner Keep Tahoe Blue and their Eyes on the Lake program, which helps protect the lake through monitoring, education, and community action. Taking care of the places we spend time on the water isn’t separate from enjoying them, it’s a necessary part of being able to keep coming back to them. Learn more about the program and how to get involved: https://lnkd.in/gsu7ZBfB

Today, we launch the Electric Summer Tour. We're bringing the Arc Sport to 20+ cities across the map all summer long. We've always believed that experiencing electric on the water is the most powerful way to understand what it means. The tour is your chance to get on board, ride the wake, and see what it actually feels like on the water. Slots are limited. Find the full lineup of stops here: arcboats.com/tour

The Arc Sport wins the iF Design Award 2026. Our goal was never to build an electric boat. It was to build a better boat, and that question changed everything. The wake that shapes itself to the rider. The tower that disappears when you don't need it. The quiet. None of it happens without rethinking the foundation first. 10,000+ entries from 68 countries. Honored to be recognized among them. #iFDesignAward #iFDesignAward2026

Honored to be named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies of 2026. At Arc, building the next generation of boats means redefining what performance on the water can be, combining software, electric propulsion, and thoughtful design to create something entirely new. With more boats on the water, this work is already starting to reshape what people expect from the category. And we're just getting started.
