  • Austal USA was pleased to welcome Rear Admiral Derek Trinque, Director of Surface Warfare (N96), for the first time, to our Mobile, Alabama, shipyard today. During the visit, we highlighted Austal USA’s proven capacity and capability to build complex surface ships at scale, including executing multiple ship programs, under serial production, simultaneously. Our contracts include first-in-class vessels built by a highly skilled workforce using advanced modular construction. The tour also showcased our ability to build both combatant and auxiliary platforms while supporting the Navy’s evolving operational needs. Discussions with RADM Trinque also focused on our lines of business, including Austal USA Solutions and Advanced Technologies, workforce development initiatives, and material challenges impacting the maritime industrial base. We appreciate the opportunity to demonstrate Austal USA’s commitment and viability as a member of the maritime industrial base and our continued readiness to partner with vessel construction managers (VCMs) and the U.S. Navy as they evaluate shipyard capacity to support current and future shipbuilding efforts. #AustalUSA #Shipbuilding #MobileAL #InnovativeOnLandExceptionalAtSea

  • Austal USA celebrated the christening of the future USNS Lansing (EPF 16), the 16th and final Spearhead-class expeditionary fast transport, during a ceremony at the Mobile shipyard today. This ceremony marks a significant milestone in the vessel’s journey toward delivery and reflects the dedication of our skilled workforce to build high-quality ships for the U.S. Navy. The ship’s sponsors, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Congresswoman Lisa McClain, performed the ceremonial bottle break over the bow of the ship. Governor Whitmer’s leadership has helped position Michigan as a top state for business growth by attracting global investment and strengthening a highly skilled workforce. Congresswoman Lisa McClain brings more than 30 years of private-sector experience to her work representing Michigan’s 9th District, providing leadership in Congress that advances key priorities for Michigan and the nation. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate USNS Lansing! We look forward to seeing the impact this ship will make in service. #AustalUSA #Shipbuilding #MobileAL #InnovativeOnLandExceptionalAtSea #USNSLansing #Christening

  • #ThrowbackThursday to USNS Cody (EPF 14) and USNS Point Loma (EPF 15)! Launched in March 2023 and delivered to the U.S. Navy in January 2024, USNS Cody is the first Flight II Expeditionary Fast Transport built by Austal USA, paving the way for advanced maritime medical support. Since commissioning, USNS Cody has focused on testing and integrating Expeditionary Medical Unit (EMU) capabilities, supporting Role 2 care with operating rooms, labs, and pharmacies. Recent milestones include EMU 1 embarkation and technical testing in 2024, with continued evaluations and tours in 2025 to prepare the vessel for future global logistics and medical response missions. Delivered to the U.S. Navy in June 2025, USNS Point Loma arrived at its first homeport, Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek – Fort Story, in October 2025. As the second Flight II Expeditionary Fast Transport, the vessel expands the Navy’s ability to provide medical care and operational support around the globe. Featuring Role 2 enhanced medical capabilities, including two operating rooms and capacity for up to 147 patients, USNS Point Loma is designed to support both combat operations and humanitarian missions, bringing critical care closer to where it’s needed most. Austal USA is proud of these ships and the teams behind them, and we’re excited to see the impact USNS Cody and USNS Point Loma will make as they support critical missions around the world.
