The need is great. The rewards are GREATER.

About us

Big Smiles is the nation’s leading in-school dental program founded more than two decades ago by two moms, who happen to also be dentists. The founders saw a tremendous need among underserved school aged children who did not have easy access to dental care and who often suffered from poor oral hygiene, tooth decay, pain and associated health problems. Knowing that many parents could not take their children to the dentist due to issues including time off from work and transportation challenges, they sought to bring the care to the need. Using the latest technology in portable equipment, a team of dedicated dental professionals provide preventive and restorative dental care to children right at school. Our flexibility and expertise allow us to transform classrooms, auditoriums, gyms or other suitable areas into fully functional dental offices for the day. Every year, through its devoted group of dental professionals, Big Smiles puts happy, healthy smiles on over 500,000 children from coast to coast. Join us in our mission to bring smiles and good oral health to where they are needed. Call or text us at 855-957-4375 or email jobs@mobiledentists.com. You’ll be glad you did.

  • School nurses, dental care coordinators and school health partners play an important role in connecting students to care that supports their health, confidence and ability to learn. We’re grateful for the partners who help make in-school dental care possible — removing barriers for families and helping more children receive dental care during the school day. Teddy the Tooth may have the wand, but you’re the ones helping us bring healthy smiles to life. #SchoolNurseDay

📍In Mississippi, Avēsis is taking a new approach to quality by making performance data real, specific, and immediately actionable for providers.  As part of a new pilot, field-based representatives meet with practices—both high performers and those with room to improve—to walk through individualized provider scorecards. Each scorecard is powered by a proprietary analytics tool that includes NCQA-certified measure logic and member-level detail behind every measure, so offices can see exactly which patients still need care and what to do next. Those conversations go beyond "here's your score." Providers share what's working in their workflows, what barriers they face, and which changes feel realistic in a busy practice. High-performing offices help surface best practices that can be shared across the network, while others receive concrete next steps and support. That way, everyone has a path to better outcomes. Over time, these scorecards will live directly in an electronic environment—alongside eligibility checks, claims, and authorizations—so quality insights become part of the daily toolkit. #ReachHigherAtAvēsis #ProviderRelations #ClinicalQuality #MississippiMedicaid

Minimally Invasive Dentistry This past Sunday, our Smile America Partners clinical leadership team hosted an all day training session in Lansing, MI with teams from around the Great Lakes region. This was Smile America Partners fourth hands-on training session across the country in the past 8 weeks focused on minimally invasive dentistry (MID) within our school-based dental home settings. The scientific evidence on the effectiveness of silver diamine fluoride, glass ionomer sealants and glass ionomer cement was incredibly well received. The MID techniques learned and medicaments shared will aid our clinicians in more effectively managing the rampant caries disease we see across our school-aged patient population. The clinical teams who attended the Lansing training provide oral healthcare to more than 350 vulnerable children each day in school classrooms across Michigan and northern Indiana, diagnosing ~600 carious lesions (each day)! MID will allow us to help these children in ways the traditional dental delivery model falls short or simply compounds the issues. Kudos to Dr. Jonathan Staker, Ann Cadoret MPH, MS and Michelle Wright, R.D.H. for an amazing, informative and enthusiastic day on the doorsteps of the State of Michigan Capitol building! Special shout-out to Michelle Wright and the team at GC America for helping with presentation and training materials. GC America has been a great partner during this MID learning process. Also a big thanks to a couple of our practice owners, Dr. solomon pesis and Dr. Shimmie Steven Pesis DDS, for attending the training event and supporting our MID evolution! These new clinical tools have us more excited than ever to expand access, remove barriers to care and help Smile America to deliver on its promise and mission…to bring smiles and good oral health where they are needed. 😁 Big Smiles Help A Child Smile Smile Programs Smile New York Outreach ToothSavers

  • The facts don't lie, Lauren Leto. There is a great need to get dental care to children and doing so at school makes it incredibly convenient for parents. Thanks to you and all educators for supporting the mission to bring smiles and good oral health where they are needed! This keeps kids in school and learning.

Oral health challenges cause an average of 2.1 missed school days per student. Thanks to our recent partnership with Big Smiles, we prevented 36 days of potential absences through on-site dental care. 17 students received fluoride, 12 received cavity-arresting medicine, and all 17 Eagles were seen by the in-school dentist. Investing in preventive care means investing in learning. #EducationImpact #PreventiveCare #BigSmiles #BHS

  • It’s official! Big Smiles is proud to partner with Miami-Dade County Public Schools to bring dental care directly to students at school. By choosing Big Smiles, Miami-Dade is expanding access to care where it matters most: right in the school day, helping students stay healthy, focused and ready to learn. A special thank you to those who helped make this partnership possible, including Superintendent Dr. Jose Dotres, Principal Dr. Dillion Williams, Luis E. Diaz, Chief Operating Officer of District Operations, and Brenda Wilder, Director of Comprehensive Student Health Services. And thank you to the Big Smiles dental team members who were onsite today caring for students and representing the heart of this work. Their dedication helps ensure children receive care for the No. 1 chronic disease of childhood — tooth decay — before it becomes a barrier to learning. Together, we’re helping more students smile, learn and thrive. Dr. Marcy Borofsky Steve Higginbotham

  • Where health meets hallways -- On National Dentist’s Day, we recognize those who bring care directly into schools — transforming everyday hallways into places of healing. Practicing in environments far different from a traditional office requires flexibility, focus and heart. Our in-school dental professionals deliver access, relief and confidence to students who might otherwise go without care — helping them return to class ready to learn. Today, we celebrate the people who choose to meet children where they are and make healthier futures possible, one student at a time.

  • Good oral health is closely connected to overall health — from proper nutrition and speech development to long-term systemic wellness. That’s why access to dental care matters, especially during the school years when healthy habits are forming. Our Dental Assistants play a critical role in making that care possible. Through preparation, clinical support and compassionate patient interaction, they help ensure each school-based visit is delivered with professionalism and excellence. Their work supports more than healthy smiles — it supports healthier students and stronger communities. Happy Dental Assistants Recognition Week!
