Last week, our Chief Marketing & Product Officer, Lyn Chassagne, joined Mike Gruss of SpaceNews for an episode of Space Minds, where they talked about speed of data delivery, AI’s role in the imagery sector and the path to sovereign space programs. • BlackSky was awarded a seven-figure subscription contract with a new government customer for new and advanced Gen-2 mission applications. This initial one-year period-of-performance contract expands access to Gen-2 capacity and increases mission value for the customer. “BlackSky’s Gen-2 constellation continues to provide tremendous real-time operational utility to our global customer base with high-cadence, rapid-revisit high resolution imagery and AI-enabled analytics,” said Brian O’Toole, BlackSky CEO. “This contract opens the opportunity to extend Gen-2 constellation capacity while supporting mission critical customer needs for innovation.” With this agreement, BlackSky is leveraging our advanced, end-to-end architecture to deliver solutions that meet the customer's readiness and operational priorities. • Yesterday, we had the privilege of welcoming members of the United States Space Force Galaxy 14 cohort to our Seattle office. During their visit, we explored a wide range of topics, including how AI has been part of BlackSky’s DNA from the very beginning and how our proprietary models power our real-time space-based intelligence capabilities. The visit concluded with a tour of our Mission Operation Center (MOC), where they got to see our autonomous mission software systems in action. We’re grateful for the opportunity to support the Galaxy Program’s development journey and to continue strengthening collaboration between the commercial sector and the U.S. Space Force.

  • Today BlackSky announced results for the first quarter of 2026. “With up to $160 million in new contract wins, we are rapidly growing revenues driven by the demand for Gen-3 space-based intelligence and AI services,” said Brian E. O’Toole, BlackSky CEO. “We are raising our guidance for the year based on strong year-to-date sales performance, in-year revenue visibility, and accelerated demand for best-in-class Gen-3 solutions in our pipeline.” Recent highlights: ✅ Secured a $25 million multi-year subscription contract with a major international Ministry of Defense to provide Assured access to best-in-class 35cm space-based imagery and AI analytics ✅ Major international defense customer rapidly scaled from Gen-3 pilot to nearly $30 million annual subscription contract for Assured access to real-time, space-based tactical ISR capabilities ✅ Awarded a multi-year sole-source IDIQ contract valued up to $99 million the Air Force Research Lab to develop a highly advanced large aperture Earth observation payload ✅ Won a $5 million subscription contract with a new government customer for novel Gen-2 mission applications ✅ Awarded a seven-figure multi-year contract renewal with the U.S. government to continue the delivery of non-Earth imaging services ✅ Signed a seven-figure contract extension with an international customer to continue providing access to BlackSky's Assured subscription services to meet customer’s mission-critical needs ✅ Secured a seven-figure renewal award under the NGA Luno contract ✅ Secured next wave of Gen-3 On-Demand subscription customers ✅ Successfully deployed fourth Gen-3 satellite, which began delivering very-high resolution images within hours from launch and rapidly entered commercial operations in less than one week ✅ Next Gen-3 satellite ready to be shipped Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eVVUz8Ev

  • BlackSky secured more than two dozen new customers for Gen-3 On-Demand subscription services during the first quarter from our expanding U.S. and international customer base. The rapid integration of best-in-class 35-centimeter imagery and exceptional AI analytics into customer operations during Gen-3 Early Access periods is driving opportunities for longer term agreements. “These initial On-Demand contracts give us strong visibility into the next wave of Gen-3 customers,” said Brian O’Toole, BlackSky CEO. “BlackSky is successfully capturing new customers and transitioning these accounts — many of which start out as small pilot programs — into larger, long-term subscriptions. Subscription-based contracts tend to be low-churn and drive predictable revenue growth as part of our land-and-expand strategy.” The introduction of daily Gen-3 service worldwide and the rapid integration of our fourth Gen-3 satellite have accelerated the number of On-Demand commitments from customers supporting their critical real-time operations within a broad array of national security and economic indicator missions. • BlackSky won a nearly $30 million, one-year Assured contract from an international defense customer. The customer rapidly scaled from an initial six-figure Early Access program to the subscription deal in less than six months to meet an accelerated need for real time space-based tactical ISR capabilities. The expedited adoption timeline followed an incremental validation and demonstration of mission value and ease of integration into the customer’s operations. The contract award follows BlackSky opening general availability of Gen-3 very high-resolution imagery with the commissioning of our fourth next generation satellite. “With four Gen-3s on orbit, BlackSky is seeing growing momentum and rapid adoption of Gen-3 services from new and existing customers as we enter our next phase of growth with increasingly more international customers validating operational utility through successful pilot programs then quickly scaling up to support their long-term mission critical needs,” said Brian O’Toole, BlackSky CEO. “This contract represents BlackSky’s single largest annual Assured contract to date as we continue to successfully perform against our international land-and-expand strategy and provide strong revenue visibility in our high-margin, space-based intelligence and AI services business.” Assured subscriptions were designed to meet the needs of the most discerning military and intelligence organizations in the world with prioritized tasking, guaranteed collection and unprecedented delivery timelines over a customer’s most critical areas of interest. Timing is everything. Check out these images, taken today, of Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center. At 07:29 local time, Gen-3 captured an extreme off-nadir twilight shot of a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket on the pad before again catching the vehicle in flight at 10:13, 38 seconds after launch, as it was traveling more than 400 miles per hour. With time-diverse imaging capabilities and flexible imaging modes, Gen-3 sees relevant activity at all hours of the day. #spacebasedintelligence #Gen3
