Bridging the gap between health and hope

About us

Established in 2008 by Dr. Lois Frankel, President of Corporate Coaching International and bestselling author, Bloom Again Foundation is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization that supports economically vulnerable working women when they encounter medical challenges. Bloom Again Foundation empowers working women living at or near the poverty line through rapid-response financial assistance, education, and essential resources by providing the tools for dignity, stability, and time to heal during medical challenges. We work towards our mission through our collaboration with community partners – providing their clients, patients, and parishioners with financial assistance for living essentials when they need it most. Bloom again is unable to take any direct requests for assistance. To learn more about becoming a strategic partner you can visit the website at www.bloomagain.org/partner-request. Message from our Founder: “When I was diagnosed with breast cancer I realized I was the luckiest woman alive. No, I didn’t think I was lucky because I had cancer, but rather because I had all the resources necessary to beat it. My thoughts soon turned to the millions of women who can’t afford the luxury of a day off from work. That’s why I vowed to help these women get back on their feet once I was back on mine. Together we are the bridge between health and hope.” – Dr. Lois Frankel

I volunteer with the Bloom Again Foundation, and this Mother's Day, the women we serve are top of mind. Working moms. Women who've held jobs for years, stretched every dollar, and never asked for help until a diagnosis took away their ability to earn and the rent came due anyway. Women like Jade, a mother undergoing cancer treatment, who was preoccupied about losing her home instead of focusing on staying strong. Bloom Again covered her rent so she could just heal. Women like Beatriz, raising six children by working a lunch truck. She was the sole provider after her husband left. A fall at work took her out for weeks. She and her family were days away from eviction when the Bloom Again team learned of her situation. $1,730 via Bloom Again kept her family housed and gave her the time to get back on her feet. These aren't edge cases. This is what a health crisis looks like when there's no safety net. 59% of low-wage women are one illness away from homelessness. Since 2008, Bloom Again is the only nonprofit in LA County focused solely on closing that gap. Through generous donations, we pay rent directly to landlords, utilities directly to companies. No red tape, no middleman. The accomplished board is comprised of volunteers that also donate to the cause. This Sunday, consider joining me in honoring our moms by paying it forward. ❤️🩹 ❤️🩹 ❤️🩹 #MothersDay #BloomAgainFoundation #PayItForward #LosAngeles #WomenInNeed #SocialImpact (pic of my mom and my daughter)

  • Happy New Year! We are grateful for our friends Dear Bloom Again Foundation friends, We are delighted to welcome Monique Stennis as our new Co-President. Monique brings a deep commitment to empowering women, along with extensive leadership experience, and a vision for building on the strong foundation that previous leadership helped create. You can learn more about our leadership here. This past year, we also met to discuss the new strategic plan that will guide us into 2028. Subsequently, at the end of July, we unanimously approved a 15-month capacity-building phase to strengthen Bloom Again Foundation and its sustainability for the long term. This intentional phase follows recent leadership changes and careful reflection on how to best advance our mission. What does this mean? We are committed to sharpening our priorities, enhancing our programs and elevating the foundation’s visibility to better serve the women who depend on us. As a result, we are reinvigorated by our new strategic plan. As a volunteer-driven organization, we are taking the time to strategically align with our core purpose. We are excited to share this strategic plan with you and enter a new chapter at Bloom Again Foundation. Our enhanced mission is: Bloom Again Foundation empowers working women living at or near the poverty line through rapid-response financial assistance, education, and essential resources by providing the tools for dignity, stability, and time to heal during medical challenges. Our core values are the heart of Bloom Again Foundation—they guide every decision we make, every partnership we build, and every woman we serve. We remain steadfast in the values that shape our work and our relationships: Dignity – Every woman deserves the opportunity to heal without fear of losing her home or self-worth. Compassion – We meet women where they are—with empathy, urgency, and zero judgment. Rapid Response – Timely support can mean the difference between stability and crisis. Resilience – We stand with women as they recover, rebuild, and rise again. Transformation – Even small acts of support can create lasting, life-changing impact. Empowerment – Investing in education and support systems create lasting change that enables every woman to thrive beyond her immediate challenges. Vulnerability – We honor the courage it takes to ask for help—and commit to being there when it’s needed most. Over the coming months, we’ll share updates and invite your input as we refine our strategies for even greater impact. Your continued support will ensure Bloom Again remains a vital financial resource for women in medical crisis. • A New Year. A Fresh Start. Dear Bloom Again Foundation friends, A new year invites a fresh start—and for the women Bloom Again Foundation serves, time can be the difference between crisis and stability. Time to recover. Time to keep a roof overhead. Time to breathe long enough to take the next step. Medical challenges don’t pause for paychecks. When a working woman living at or near the poverty line faces an unexpected diagnosis, surgery, or treatment, bills can pile up fast—rent, utilities, transportation, groceries—right when income is most fragile. Bloom Again exists for that moment, providing rapid-response financial assistance and essential resources so women can protect their dignity and focus on healing. As you set intentions for 2026, we invite you to help make this kind of stability possible. Your year-end gift helps ensure we can respond quickly, with compassion and zero judgment—because urgent support is what prevents a temporary setback from becoming a long-term hardship. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to begin the year with purpose, please consider making a tax-deductible gift today. Together, we can give women the tools for dignity, stability, and time to heal, so they can rebuild, rise again, and move forward with hope. • Warm Holiday Greetings from Bloom Again Foundation Dear Bloom Again donors, strategic partners, community supporters, and the women we are honored to serve, As we enter this season of light, reflection, and gratitude, we extend our heartfelt wishes to each of you. This time of year brings together a beautiful tapestry of celebrations—Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and Las Posadas—each honoring hope, community, generosity, and renewed possibility. We also recognize and celebrate the many other meaningful traditions observed during this season. Whether you mark the days through cultural rituals, spiritual reflection, family gatherings, or intentional moments of rest, we honor the spirit your celebration brings. At Bloom Again Foundation, we are continually inspired by the resilience and courage of the women we serve and moved by the generosity of our supporters. Your partnership allows us to continue providing rapid-response financial assistance that helps women recover, rebuild, and thrive. With gratitude, Carolyn Sims & Monique A. Stennis, MBA Co-Presidents, Bloom Again Foundation Maintaining Balance During the Holiday Season: Guidance From Co-President Carolyn Sims The holiday season can be joyful—and also overwhelming, especially for women who often carry the emotional and logistical weight of the season. To support women in nurturing their mental and emotional well-being, I want to offer five practices designed to help sustain balance: 🌹 Prioritize rest and recovery Give yourself permission to slow down. Schedule quiet moments—whether it’s a nap, meditation, or simply enjoying a cup of tea—to recharge your energy. 🌹 Set boundaries with grace It’s okay to say no to extra commitments. Protect your time and emotional space by being clear about what you can realistically take on. 🌹 Delegate and share responsibilities The season doesn’t have to rest on your shoulders alone. Invite family members to help with cooking, decorating, or planning so the load is shared. 🌹 Practice mindful presence Instead of striving for perfection, focus on being present. Savor small joys—like laughter around the table or the sparkle of lights—without worrying about the checklist. 🌹 Nourish yourself intentionally Balance indulgence with self-care. Eat foods that fuel your body, stay hydrated, and carve out time for movement to keep your mind and body steady.
