Last week, we had the privilege of showcasing four extraordinary voices from Season 2’s Reframe & Reclaim docuseries in a powerful panel discussion, moderated by Tiffinee Scott. Here are some highlights: 🎤Desmond Haneef Perry, CPRS shared the challenges he faced during reentry as well as the value of peer support during his journey. 🎤Monica White detailed the importance of providing wraparound services and how reclaiming a sense of purpose can make a world of difference. 🎤Michael Gordon emphasized the critical window of post-release and shared ways to support people during this transition. 🎤Dr. Nishant Shah highlighted how healthcare providers can best show up for patients to support their recovery journey. Together, they represent the progress that is being made towards a world where recovery support and resources are more accessible to all. We are deeply grateful to this entire panel, those in the audience, and countless others who are helping others looking for a second chance. Watch our Reframe & Reclaim docuseries to see for yourself how these community advocates and many others are making a positive impact in Baltimore: https://lnkd.in/grgiSQ2h #ReframeAndReclaim #OpioidUseDisorder #EndTheStigma

As expressed by Joseph D'Orazio MD, during a panel discussion featuring advocates from our #ReframeAndReclaim docuseries, substance use disorder is not a moral failing – it’s a chronic disease, and it can impact anyone. This #NationalPreventionWeek26, we encourage you to learn more about overdose prevention and community-based resources that support people living with opioid use disorder. Check out educational tools from trusted organizations, including the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA): https://lnkd.in/er8tcuhU

This #MothersDay, we honor those caring and advocating for loved ones impacted by opioid use disorder. When Katie Donovan, a mother to a daughter on her recovery journey, shared her family’s story online, it opened the door to a community of families navigating similar experiences. Today, she supports others, reminding us that even though every recovery journey is different, no one has to move through it alone. 👉 Read Katie’s full story and hear more about her journey: https://lnkd.in/eqP75TWs

Research shows that people who receive peer support while in a reentry program experience improved mental and physical health, along with reduced substance use. In Episode 2 of this season’s #ReframeAndReclaim docuseries, Baltimore recovery advocates reflect on why the first 30 days after release is such a powerful window for change. From connecting with loved ones to kindling a personal passion, this episode shows that recovery isn’t just about stopping substance use – it’s about reclaiming what’s important in life: https://bit.ly/48cB9SB #EndTheStigma #OpioidUseDisorder

Everyone’s recovery journey is unique, but those from underrepresented communities may experience more barriers to care than other groups. As we close out #MinorityHealthMonth, we recognize the importance of culturally competent care and encourage you to familiarize yourself with these resources from Shatterproof, Latino Recovery Advocacy, SAFE Project (Stop the Addiction Fatality Epidemic) and more. If you or a loved one is affected by OUD, you’re not alone. We are looking forward to being a part of the upcoming American Society of Addiction Medicine - ASAM 57th Annual Conference. We’re pleased that data from the NIH-funded MOMs study, which provides new insight into the treatment of opioid use disorder during pregnancy and postpartum, will be presented. With approximately 1 in 40 pregnancies affected by OUD, studies like these can help advance understanding and support clinicians in managing OUD in a vulnerable patient population. #ASAM
