Braille Institute of America reposted this
Some moments remind you exactly why this work matters, and this was one of them. At Braille Institute of America, we believe a student’s geography should never define their access to opportunity, and the first ever Kenya Regional Braille Challenge brought that belief to life in a powerful way. In conversations with students and educators across Kenya, one message came through clearly: they want more Braille, more access, and more opportunities. In schools where educators worry daily about running out of braille paper, braillers, and essential learning materials, this program represented hope, visibility, and real investment in the future of blind and low vision students. Bringing Braille Challenge to Kenya has been transformative. Across three regionals, we are impacting more than 1,000 students alongside hundreds of educators, volunteers, and community members who came together with incredible passion and purpose. We are grateful to Clovernook Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired for their partnership and shared vision in helping make this milestone possible. Thank you as well to HumanWare and Del Monte Foods for their generous sponsorship and belief in this mission. And deep gratitude to the International Programs team for their dedication to expanding access, strengthening sustainability, and creating opportunities for students around the world. The work you do every day brought us to this moment, and continues to open doors where they are needed most. And we’re just getting started. One more regional is happening on the coast next week, and we’re excited to continue building on this momentum and impact. Grateful to everyone who helped make history together. 🇰🇪 Madeleine Hernandez Allison Burdett Dimitri Kales Samuel Foulkes Kelly Lusk, PhD Dominic Kiamba Stephanie Jones Stephanie Kiamba Rosalyn S.
