Per the American Dental Association, the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee is seeking volunteer dentists in San Diego, Los Angeles and other areas to provide free basic dental care to eligible athletes. San Diego dentist, Dr. Zeynep Barakat says, “if you’re like me and you get giddy with goosebumps every time the Olympic and Paralympic games are on, then that’s a great start to see if you can be part of the USOPC dentist provider network.” Learn more about the opportunity and apply by June 15. https://lnkd.in/gP_prq3v

A new lawsuit, filed against Delta Dental in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleges that Delta Dental restrained competition, conspired to create impermissible territorial restrictions and limited rates paid to providers and choice for both dentists and patients. We will be following the details of the case closely and will share developments with members as things progress. https://lnkd.in/gd8nyCbR

Several members have contacted CDA after reading about the “discontinuation of Proposition 56 Supplemental Payments” in the Department of Health Care Services’ Provider Bulletin sent last week to Medi-Cal Dental subscribers. The article states that these incentive payments will end July and provides information on what to expect and “steps you can take now.” https://lnkd.in/grGAxRr5 Medi-Cal-enrolled dentists will receive notices from DHCS about the elimination of the Prop 56 Rates over the next few weeks, and CDA encourages dentists to read them. However, CDA continues advocating on all fronts to delay or eliminate the rate cuts proposed in the 2026-27 state budget. If you haven’t done so, you too can take action to stop the cuts. https://lnkd.in/gRrt4-z8

As dentistry changes, practice leaders are rethinking how onsite teams, offsite support, and new technology can work together without adding more pressure to the day. Join Dr. Scott Leune at California Dental Association for his session, “Virtual Staff: How to Support Your Onsite Team with Offsite People,” on Thursday, May 14 at 4:30 PM. He’ll break down how offsite team members can support onsite teams in a practical way, a model more than 1,000 dental practices already use with Reach VAs. After you register for CDA Presents, sign up for the Spark Innovation Theater session. And while you’re there, stop by Booth 1076 to meet the Reach team and see how our model works. #dentistry #CDAPresents

Last week, members from Harbor, Orange County, San Diego County, San Gabriel Valley and Tri-County Dental Societies urged state legislators to reject the proposed $1 billion cut to the Medi-Cal Dental program. Thank you to Sen. Tony Strickland, Sen. Steven Choi, Asm. John Harabedian, Asm. Mike Fong, Asm. Natasha Johnson and Asm. Greg Wallis for meeting with us to discuss dental plan reform, expanding the healthcare workforce and protecting and expanding access to care.
