🫀 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗟 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆’𝘀 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗦𝗘𝗖) Last week in Granada, with thousands of professionals gathered 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗟 brought a clear message: women’s cardiovascular health requires targeted, data-driven innovation. Our team shared how AI-powered risk assessment, combined with gender-specific prevention strategies, can reshape the way we protect women’s hearts, especially during and after menopause. From a powerful session on “𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯: 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘖𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴”, to insights on how emerging technologies are already transforming cardiology, CARAMEL was right at the heart of it. Dr. Nerea Arrarte and Dr. Karen López-Linares Román from our coordinating partner Vicomtech had the opportunity to engage with Dr. Carlos Escobar, a member of CARAMEL’s External Advisory Board, who moderated a cutting-edge symposium on AI in cardiology. 🔍 Want to know more about what was shared, who we met, and why this matters for the future of women’s health? 👉 Read the full story on our website: https://lnkd.in/dZseCyb3 #CARAMELproject #CardiovascularHealth #WomensHealth #AIinHealthcare #DigitalHealth #SEC2025 #Menopause #GenderMedicine #HorizonEU #HealthInnovation

Personalised cardiovascular prevention for menopausal women through AI and multimodal data analysis
About us
CARAMEL (CArdiovascular Risk Assessment in MEnopausaL women via multimodal data analysis enabling personalized prevention strategies) is a Horizon Europe-funded project designed to transform cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention for women aged 40-60. CVD is the leading cause of death among women in Europe, with a significant rise in risk during and after menopause. Despite this, current risk models often fail to consider sex- and gender-specific factors, leaving women underdiagnosed and undertreated. CARAMEL addresses this urgent need by developing AI-driven, personalized prevention strategies based on comprehensive risk assessment models tailored to menopausal women. Through the integration of clinical data, medical imaging, wearable devices, and lifestyle information, the project will deliver innovative tools for self-assessment, self-management, and digital empowerment. Advanced diagnostic technologies, including skin nanosensors and NMR-based biomarkers, will also support earlier and more precise risk detection. This project has received funding from the European Project Union’s Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme under Grant Agreement No 101156210.

🟣 𝟮𝟵 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿: 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 Every year, the World Stroke Organization raises awareness of one of the world’s leading causes of death and disability: stroke. This year’s campaign theme, #GreaterThanStroke, reminds us that stroke can be prevented, treated, and overcome, but only if we act early. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 Many strokes are caused by underlying cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, and lifestyle habits that can be addressed before a stroke ever occurs. For women aged 40–60, especially during and after menopause, the signs of cardiovascular disease are often misunderstood, minimised, or entirely missed. In fact, 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 “𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁” 𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹, especially in older age or when diabetes is present. Symptoms are frequently mistaken for stress, menopause, digestive issues, or muscular pain, delaying diagnosis and increasing risk. 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗟 𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 ❤️🩹 CARAMEL is part of this 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 movement. Our core mission is to raise visibility around cardiovascular risks in menopausal women. 𝗪𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼: ✔️ Increase awareness through educational campaigns; ✔️ Empower women via co-designed digital tools and prevention strategies; ✔️ Ensure early identification of risk using AI and multimodal data; ✔️ Promote health equity by addressing sex, gender, and cognitive diversity. Because knowing the signs and understanding your risk can change everything. 🔗 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 about World Stroke Day: https://lnkd.in/eajh5Kz #WorldStrokeDay #CARAMELProject #StrokeAwareness #WomensHealth #MenopauseMatters #AIforHealth #DigitalPrevention #BrainHealth #HeartHealth #HealthEquity #GenderHealthGap #EvidenceBased #PreventionFirst #AccessForAll #GreaterThanStroke
