Today is National Adaptive Sports Day — and it's a good moment to reflect on what inclusive sport looks like in practice. 🤝 In recent years, the Chelsea Piers Foundation has worked alongside athletes, coaches, and community partners to build programming that meets people where they are — from adaptive ice skating at Sky Rink to wheelchair basketball clinics on our courts. Tomorrow, we're proud to partner with The Golf Trust to host an adaptive golf event at Chelsea Piers Golf Club. ⛳ We're looking forward to welcoming athletes to the range and to the continued work of making sports more accessible.

About us
The Chelsea Piers Sports & Entertainment Complex is a 28-acre sports village located between 17th & 23rd Streets along Manhattan’s Hudson River. Opened in 1995, Chelsea Piers transformed four historic, long-neglected piers into a major center for public recreation and waterfront access. Annual visitation is approximately 4.1 million. Situated on Piers 59 through 62 and in the head house that connects them, the complex features: the Golf Club, the Chelsea Piers Fitness Club, Sky Rink, the Field House, Bowlmor, the Lighthouse, Current and Pier Sixty Event Centers, Sunset Terrace, and the Marina at Chelsea Piers. The Golf Club at Chelsea Piers, Manhattan’s only multi-tiered, year-round, outdoor golf driving range and teaching academy, allows golfers to hit full shots, practice putting and take lessons from top pros. Chelsea Piers Fitness features one of the country's most challenging rock walls, a 75-foot pool, Hudson River sundecks, dedicated studios for yoga, barre, Pilates and cycle programs, and 150+ group fitness classes a week. Chelsea Piers also features two indoor ice rinks, a 40-lane bowling center operated by Bowlmor, along with gymnastics, soccer, and basketball facilities for youths and adults. Our girls had a Friday night for the books. 🏆⚽ Kelley O'Hara, Gold Medal Olympian, FIFA World Cup champion, and all-around legend, walked through our doors at Chelsea Piers, and let's just say things got a little electric. She sat down with our very own Chelsea Piers Girls Soccer Club athlete, Sadie, for a Q&A, and our girls came ready with questions. She met with every single player, signing jerseys, posters, and yes, even cleats 👟✍️ She stayed to run a live training session with our 12U Girls team, leading defensive drills and sharing the kind of insights you can only get from one of the best to ever play the game. A huge thank you to Kelley and Chelsea Piers Foundation for giving our athletes a memory to carry with them.

This past Tuesday, Chelsea Piers had an unforgettable visit from NBA All-star Karl-Anthony Towns, who stopped by to spend time with our CP Evolution Basketball Team. The way he showed up for our kids was something special — he talked with them, listened, signed autographs, and took photos. We're so grateful he made time for our team. Thank you, Karl-Anthony Towns, for making time for the next generation. 🏀

Very excited to welcome Meg Stevens to the Chelsea Piers team!
We’re excited to welcome Meg Stevens as the new Executive Director of Cheslea Piers Connecticut, starting March 16th. Meg brings deep experience in sports leadership, operations, and community building—exactly what we need as we continue to grow. Most recently, as President of Arizona Athletic Grounds, one of the country’s largest sports and entertainment complexes, she led a 200+ person team through a period of significant transformation—delivering more than 300 operational milestones in under a year and meaningfully elevating the guest experience across the 280-acre facility. Highlights from her time there include: - Launching a comprehensive sports performance program - Collaborating with p1440, the youth-to-pro beach volleyball organization founded by three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings, to deliver elevated year-round beach volleyball programming - Enabling live streaming through NBC Next’s SportsEngine Play - Bringing on InjureFree to provide on-site athletic training and recovery services - Growing the sponsorship portfolio and welcoming new revenue-driving lease partners, including a restaurant, gymnastics operations, and arcade activation AAG also hosted major events during her tenure, including MLS NEXT, USA Basketball 3X Nationals, Carvana PPA Mesa Cup, and Athletes Unlimited Pro Volleyball. Before AAG, Meg spent 11 years as VP and Director of Athletics and Campus Operations at Averett University, where her "3-2-1" philosophy — built around academic excellence, competitive success, and unified culture — left a lasting mark on the institution. Earlier in her career, she served as Senior Woman Administrator and head lacrosse coach at Buffalo State for 11 seasons, compiling a 109-65 record, earning multiple Coach of the Year honors, and leading the program to an NCAA Tournament appearance. Meg has also served as President of Women Leaders in Sports and on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Danville. A SUNY Cortland and Buffalo State alum, former student-athlete, and 2024 inductee into the Western New York Chapter of the USA Lacrosse Hall of Fame, she's spent her career championing excellence, inclusion, and growth in sport. David A. Tewksbury, President of Chelsea Piers Connecticut, shared, “Meg’s arrival comes at the perfect time for us. Her ability to unite teams, execute on big priorities, and elevate facilities to best-in-class – all while delivering outstanding experiences for athletes, families, and partners – is exactly what we’re looking for as we grow our programs and continue leading the industry. We can’t wait to see what she brings.” Meg will work closely with our team to strengthen recreational and competitive programs, advance coaching excellence, and keep building Chelsea Piers Connecticut into a premier destination for sport and active families. Welcome, Meg. We’re glad you’re here.

This past Saturday, the Chelsea Piers Foundation hosted our first Wheelchair Basketball Clinic, welcoming 23 athletes who traveled from across the region — including families from Syracuse and Baltimore — for the opportunity to train with 3x Paralympic gold medalist and 6x Paralympic competitor Patrick Anderson, PLY. 🏀 From first-time players to college-bound competitors, the clinic was a meaningful day of skill-building, competition, and community, supported by volunteer coaches from the New York Rolling Knicks and CUNY Adaptive. The distance families were willing to travel speaks to the need for more high-quality, inclusive sports opportunities in our region. For our team, the clinic was also an important step internally. We are actively training our own coaches and learning from leaders in adaptive sport as we explore how this type of programming can thoughtfully grow within Chelsea Piers over time. Grateful to everyone who helped bring the day to life—especially the athletes and families who showed up with so much energy and commitment.

Last week, teammates from across Chelsea Piers came together at The Lighthouse at Pier 61 for our 4th Annual All-Staff Town Hall. CEO david tewksbury kicked things off, followed by a candid, moderated conversation led by Sam Bernstein with leaders from across the organization—including Cathleen Clark, Adam Koogler, Christian Lajara, Alexander McKhann, Kalin Russell, and Anne Marie Skylis The discussion gave our teams a real look at what’s ahead in 2026 and beyond—from how we’re growing and innovating, to how we continue to strengthen our communities and evolve the sports and fitness experiences we’re known for. Most of all, the room was full of energy, ideas, and shared purpose. A great reminder of what makes Chelsea Piers special and why the best is still ahead.

Looking back at the close of 2025, we gathered for our annual State of the Piers to celebrate the people who drive Chelsea Piers forward. Nominated by their peers, our coaches and staff were recognized for their excellence, leadership, hospitality, and the teamwork that defines our culture. This year we celebrated 30 years since we opening our doors in August 1995. What began as a bold idea to reimagine the West Side Highway has grown into a belief that sports, fitness and community belong in the fabric of this city. Today, we serve athletes of all ages across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Stamford, with our next chapter taking shape in Queens, New Jersey, and new Manhattan locations. Different places, same purpose: creating spaces where people can play, grow, and connect with one another. To our partners, peers, and LinkedIn community, thank you for being part of the journey. As we look to 2026, our focus stays simple: Make someone's day. Play as a team. Pay attention. Own it. Have fun. Let’s make 2026 our strongest year yet, together.

Alysa Liu’s story is a case study in resilience and growth. She stepped away from elite skating, broadened her world, then returned with a new mindset and love for her sport. We love this story and all stories like Alysa's. Worth a read for anyone focused on long-term development and passion-driven performance.
