  • One of the most important steps parents can take is to have their child tested for lead, especially if they live in or regularly visit homes built before 1978, where lead-based paint was commonly used. In partnership with the @Toledo-Lucas County Health Department, and @The Fair Housing Center, We work to identify homes with lead hazards and ensure families have access to the resources they need. Together, we’re committed to protecting tenants, and homeowners, and uphold the principle that safe housing is a basic right.

  • Last Tuesday, our Employee Engagement Committee hosted its annual Pancake Breakfast as a thank you to City employees during Public Service Recognition Week. To help employees start their day the right way, we served a full breakfast to around 800 staff members! This event is always a favorite and gives employees from different departments a chance to catch up and connect. Public Service Recognition Week is a time to honor the work of public servants and remind them how grateful we are for everything they do for our community each day. 💙

  • This week is #DrinkingWaterWeek, an opportunity to learn about how drinking water is treated, tested and delivered to your home for use. There is a dedicated workforce of people responsible for keeping those systems running every day. Did you know? The City of Toledo Department of Public Utilities supplies water to a population of approximately 500,000 people located in the city and surrounding areas? That’s about 75 million gallons per day! 🤯🤯

  • For Lukas Santus, End User Support Manager, public service is about making daily work simpler and more secure for City employees. “Public service to me means showing up at work every day and asking myself, how can I make it simpler and more secure for people to do the online parts of their jobs at the City,” He added that as more services and internal systems move online, the responsibility behind that work continues to grow. “Our increasingly online world asks us to move more and more of the tasks that we do onto PCs and Internet connected devices, whether we like it or not,” Santus said. “Enabling these transitions to occur in a thoughtful and secure way means that we can drive operational efficiency in every internal department, which has a massive impact on our ability to meet the needs of our residents.” Employees like Lukas help our city run smoothly, even if their work isn’t always visible to Toledo residents. During Public Service Week, we are amplifying the work of City employees who keep internal systems and departments connected and operating efficiently.
