After more than four decades of vision, leadership and devotion, our founder, Alan McKim, is retiring. Alan’s leadership not only shaped who we are today, but the culture of safety, service and purpose that continues to guide us every day. We’re so grateful for his entrepreneurism and unwavering commitment, which has made a lasting impact on us and the hazardous waste industry. “I have watched Clean Harbors grow from its humble beginnings to succeeding beyond my wildest dreams,” Alan said. “My greatest satisfaction comes from the impact Clean Harbors has had on the lives and careers of our employees and their families, and from the trust that customers have placed in us to manage hazardous materials safely and to respond in their moments of greatest need. I am confident Clean Harbors’ mission will continue as current leadership drives the company in its next phase of growth." https://lnkd.in/eRihJHc7

Our Earth Day celebrations have been taking place all month at branches and facilities across the U.S. and Canada. Employees cleaned up green spaces and highways, planted trees in public parks, made donations to nonprofits dedicated to protecting the environment, shared educational resources with communities during our Household Hazardous Waste events and visited local schools to speak to students about the importance of sustainability. Thank you to everyone who participated in these initiatives! #sustainABILITY

On Earth Day, we reflect on the importance of environmental stewardship, which is at the core of everything we do. From providing leadership in the comprehensive management of “forever chemicals” through our Total PFAS Solution, to safely collecting, treating and disposing of hazardous waste for our communities, and recycling and reclaiming materials like used lubricants, solvents and e-waste to strengthen resource security and advance a circular economy, our services and products provide sustainable solutions to reduce environmental impact. This is our responsibility and it’s one we’re proud to carry today and every day. Over the years, we’ve had many customers, government agencies and community leaders ask us for advice on how to safely treat and dispose of PFAS (forever chemicals). Today, we released our disposal and treatment guidance standards, which we previously shared with the EPA, to help organizations address PFAS based on concentration levels, waste forms and regulatory requirements. Our integrated framework (pictured below) uses a combination of destruction, containment and treatment technologies and builds on our Total PFAS Solution. It provides customers with a range of services to meet all their needs, from analysis to water filtration, remediation and disposal. Ahead of the United Nations’ observance of World Water Day on March 22, we remain committed to providing environmental solutions that protect global water resources. Last year, we treated approximately 100 million gallons of contaminated water at our 12 wastewater facilities, which reflect just a portion of the billions of gallons of liquids we sustainably manage for our customers. In addition to our treatment services, we mitigate impacts to groundwater and waterways through used oil and solvent recycling, advanced spill prevention and emergency environmental response (like our groundwater treatment system in Hawaii and our spill response team, pictured below). We’re thrilled to once again be recognized as one of the Clean200 companies! Earning a spot on this list illustrates the substantial revenue we generate from our sustainable products and services while meeting rigorous business screening criteria related to our corporate governance structure and policy. Our business is solving complex environmental challenges to help our customers reduce their impact. How can we help you to achieve your sustainability goals? https://lnkd.in/emdgaDbH #sustainABILITY
Since 2016, Corporate Knights and the U.S. shareholder-advocacy nonprofit As You Sow have been collaborating to produce the annual Carbon Clean 200 list. This ranking dials in on total sustainable revenues at global companies, providing an aerial view of the pace and scale of the green transition in the world economy. This year's list shows sustainable revenue taking a growing share (53.7%) of total revenue for #Clean200 companies, which is roughly 15 percentage points higher than five years ago. Across all ranking firms, revenue from sustainable activities reached a record high of US$2.8 trillion, up 12% from last year and 710% from 2017. “Even when politics turns hostile, markets continue to reward companies that are supplying what the global economy is structurally demanding – clean power, electrification, efficiency, and resilient infrastructure," observes Toby Heaps, CEO and publisher at Corporate Knights. A key function of the Clean200 list is to compare the performance of sustainability-oriented companies with the wider market. Over the past decade, investors in Clean200 companies beat the benchmark by a wide margin. From July 1, 2016, to January 26, 2026, the Clean200 portfolio returned 282.9%, compared with 221.3% for the MSCI ACWI. The fossil fuel benchmark, meanwhile, returned a much slimmer 111%. In other words, the Clean200 produced about 2.5 times the gain of the fossil fuel benchmark. “The evidence is clear," said Andrew Behar, CEO of As You Sow and report co-author, in a statement. “Across sectors and regions, companies focused on sustainability fundamentals are building more resilient, competitive businesses. These firms are helping define the next phase of global economic growth.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/evTgV8QH

A friendly rivalry is heating up between our corporate office south of Boston and our Seattle office as the Super Bowl approaches this Sunday. Employees went all out showing their team spirit, and with the Seahawks vying for redemption from 2015, and the Pats hoping to earn their seventh ring, this matchup is one for the books. We’re looking forward to a good game and seeing which office earns bragging rights! Let’s go!!

As one of the top 15 largest private motor carriers in North America, a lot of work goes into maintaining our fleet each year. In 2025, our refurbishment team restored more than 100 specialized vehicles, like vacuum trucks, hydrovacs and air movers. This work, which lowers our exposure to supply chain disruptions, was all done with sustainability in mind. In fact, on average, when older vehicles come into one of our five refurb locations, we’re able to re-use approximately 80% of materials. Once complete, the refurbished vehicles on average experience a 35% increase in fuel efficiency from their previous condition. Watch this video for a little more insight into our fleet refurbishment activities that help keep this company moving.
