📣 Helmholtz Modular Curriculum Vitae Template Published 🆕 The Helmholtz Modular Curriculum Vitae Template is designed to support recruitment, appointment, and promotion processes within the Helmholtz Association and beyond. It is based on the CV format developed by the Helmholtz Joint Initiative for Research and Innovation and incorporates recommendations from the Helmholtz Task Group Research Assessment and the Helmholtz Open Science Office, including additional evaluation criteria identified through a Helmholtz-wide survey. ➡️ The CV template supports the visualization of a broad range of contributions to research by narrative means and thereby enables a more comprehensive and balanced assessment of academic performance combining quantitative as well as qualitative dimensions. The CV template is not intended to be presented to applicants in its entirety; instead, it serves as a tool to selection or hiring committees in identifying which modules and criteria are most relevant to the position in question and making additions or modifications where appropriate. 🔗 Helmholtz Task Group Research Assessment & Helmholtz Open Science Office. 🔊 Update on registration for the CoARA Conference 2026 We are currently finalising preparations for the upcoming CoARA Conference on 7-8 September 2026 in Paris, France! Thank you to everyone who submitted an expression of interest (EOI) for both in-person and online attendance for the event. We received a much higher number of responses than the available in-person capacity allows, and we are currently reviewing submissions and finalising the allocation of in-person places. The current registration steps are as follows: 1️⃣ The EOI is now closed. 2️⃣ All those who registered via the EOI will receive a confirmation for either in-person attendance or online participation. 3️⃣ If you missed the deadline for the EOI, there is still time to register to join online-only until 1 September 2026. 🔗 Click here for the online-only registration: https://lnkd.in/eUwiESfq All participants who registered via the EOI and are not able to join in-person will be invited to register for online-only participation. 🤝 We appreciate your enthusiasm and we look forward to welcoming you to the event, both in-person and online, after the summer holidays! 💡 Want to learn more about the upcoming conference? Researchers with diverse outputs - please consider completing this survey. CoARA - Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment
#CallForInput: The ISC Forum on Publishing and Research Assessment is running a survey to understand what kinds of scientific contributions currently go unrecognized, and why. Deadline: 31 August 2026. https://lnkd.in/eBxauyE6 Researchers and scientists’ contributions to knowledge and society are going unrecognized by current publishing and assessment systems, which remain heavily centred on peer-reviewed journal articles. Data, software, methods, policy advice, education and training, community engagement, and infrastructure and governance roles all advance science, yet are often invisible in how contributions are counted and rewarded. In this survey, we are especially interested in how this varies across disciplines, regions, and career stages. Your responses will directly inform an ISC position paper on broadening what counts as a scientific contribution, to be published later in 2026.

MCAA Conversations on inclusive research assessment 🔔 Today, we hosted an event in Brussels and online as part of the Towards an Inclusive Evaluation of Research(TIER) - CoARA Working Group dissemination tour. It brought together researchers, policymakers, funders, university networks, and research organisations to discuss how the TIER Working Group findings can contribute to ongoing reforms of research assessment across the European Research Area (ERA). At a time when research assessment reform is gaining momentum across Europe, the discussions focused on reducing structural biases, including gender-related ones, in research careers and evaluation, while exploring practical pathways towards more responsible and inclusive assessment. 💡 As the ERA Act and the 10th EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP10) take shape, panellists stressed that excellence and inclusion are not competitive goals. Now is the time to incorporate inclusive assessment into Europe’s legislative and funding frameworks, rather than correcting course once the rules are already set. We extend our thanks to the speakers and panellists for their insights, and to all participants for contributing to such a rich conversation! 🤝 Anouk Lafortune-Bernard | Hana Tenglerová | James Morris | Karen Stroobants | Magdalini Theodoridou | Marina Neophytou | Maura Coniglione | Michael Arentoft | Rita Morais | Sebastian Dahle | Gian Maria Greco | Mostafa Moonir Shawrav | Tereza Szybisty (Šímová) | Nicole Finucci CoARA - Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment #ResearchAssessment #EUResearchArea #ERAAct #FP10

European Universities alliances can be important amplifiers of the research assessment reform: 65% of 477 European Higher Education Institutions (HEI) that are CoARA signatories are also members of the alliances, however, more than half (51%) of all 627 alliance member HEIs are not yet signatories. It was a great pleasure to give a presentation on the role of university alliances in CoARA yesterday at the CIVIS - Europe's Civic University Alliance CoARA Boost project's LERAR Colloquium in Bucharest. I also enjoyed the inspiring presentations by Rafaella Lenoir Improta & Mariana Chioncel, Eva Méndez and Ioana Spanache. I would specifically like to thank Fabien BORGET and Mihnea Dobre for the invitation and hospitality. My presentation "University alliances as amplifiers of research assessment reform" is available on Zenodo: https://lnkd.in/dvY_X925 This presentation builds on collaborative effort with Alex Rushforth on mapping the CoARA uptake by numbers, available as preprint on SocArxiv: https://lnkd.in/dC2iY-S9 I also made use of the data on CoARA signatories from CoARA Dashboard developed by Nino gogadze: https://lnkd.in/daSytq7K CoARA - Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment Tieteellisten seurain valtuuskunta (TSV) / The Federation of Finnish Learned Societies

Fantastic to see the work of the INORMS Research Evaluation Group mentioned so frequently in Karen Stroobants excellent analysis of CoARA - Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment Action Plans. Many signatories mentioned the #SCOPEFramework as a mechanism by which they were reviewing existing assessment criteria or developing new approaches. Many also cited the #MoreThanOurRank initiative as a way they were delivering on Commitment to avoid the use of university rankings in research assessment.
