Celebrating 2 Years with CORTEK! — Congratulations, Hessel Zwaagstra! Hessel has supported the State Department as a contractor for seven years, with the past two spent as a valued member of the CORTEK team. Over the last year—following the Department’s July 2025 reorganization—he has taken on an expanded role, now serving as the sole press officer for the Arms Control and Nonproliferation Bureau and the sole congressional affairs officer for the Counterterrorism Bureau. What was once a multi-person effort is now led by Hessel and we are so proud of all he is accomplishing! As he continues to grow in his career with CORTEK, Hessel brings dedication, adaptability, and a great sense of humor to everything he does. Outside of work, he enjoys exploring the National Mall, going on runs (recently completing his first half marathon!), and spending time with friends and his 5-year-old Shih-Tzu/Poodle, Teddy.
