The second WebAssembly, Cloud and Edge: Shaping the Future of Computing (WACE) Workshop will take place alongside ACM Middleware 2026 in Tarragona, Spain, this December. We're organizing the second WACE workshop together with the Bytecode Alliance. The workshop is colocated with the ACM/IFIP International Middleware Conference taking place 14th – 18th December 2026 in Tarragona, Spain. CFP Deadline is 17 September 2026. We’re opening up one of ELASTIC’s internal training sessions to the wider community. 🎥 The W3C/WASI Standardisation Webinar, delivered by Dr. Merlijn Sebrechts from imec and Ghent University, is now publicly available on the #ELASTIC YouTube channel. The session offers a practical introduction to how #WebAssembly and WASI standards are developed, covering the roles of the W3C, WebAssembly Community Group, WebAssembly Working Group and Bytecode Alliance, as well as the different standardisation pathways for Core WebAssembly and WASI. It also looks at how contributors can get involved in practice, from joining community discussions and meetings to proposing agenda items and following proposals through discussion, implementation, consensus-building and formal voting. Two days, three parallel technical tables, and one shared goal: bringing ELASTIC’s technologies together for a strong final demonstration. On 16–17 June 2026, the #ELASTIC consortium gathered in Belgrade for its M28 Technical Meeting, hosted by Zentrix Lab. With the project entering its final phase, partners focused on hands-on integration work, live demonstrations, technical decision-making, and the remaining challenges across the project’s two demonstrators. The discussions covered: 🔹 Secure orchestration and WebAssembly 🔹 Hardware-accelerated encryption and data protection 🔹 AI-powered intrusion detection 🔹 Remote attestation and confidential computing 🔹 Workload migration and federated learning 🔹 eBPF-based security and access control The meeting resulted in clear technical decisions, concrete summer action points, and a series of focused working sessions to maintain momentum in the months ahead. Beyond the technical work, the meeting also provided an opportunity to reconnect in person and enjoy an evening together in Belgrade’s historic Skadarlija quarter. Over three and a half inspiring days at EuCNC & 6G Summit 2026 in Málaga, the #ELASTIC consortium showcased how secure, portable and efficient network services are becoming a reality. Our team welcomed more than 100 visitors, demonstrated live WebAssembly-based confidential computing technologies, and engaged in valuable discussions with researchers, industry representatives and fellow EU projects about the future of 6G, edge-cloud computing, and privacy-preserving services. The event was about much more than technology. It was an opportunity to strengthen existing collaborations, establish new connections, contribute to technical workshops, and shape future initiatives with projects such as SAFE-6G and 6G-PATH. Every tap on your screen hides a bigger story. When we open an app, everything feels instant: content loads, actions respond, and services simply work. Behind that simple experience, however, is a complex chain of processes. Data travels across networks, passes through different systems, is processed by multiple services, and must remain fast, reliable and secure at every step. As digital services become more distributed, this challenge is growing. More users, more connected devices, more data, and more demand for applications that work without delays or interruptions. This is where the #ELASTIC project comes in. #ELASTIC is exploring how future digital services, including those supported by 6G networks, can become faster, lighter, more flexible and more secure. Through technologies such as edge computing, #WebAssembly and confidential computing, the project is working on new approaches to service #orchestration for complex, distributed environments. Because the next generation of digital infrastructure should not only be faster. It should also be efficient, secure and trustworthy. The webinar recording and presentation slides from the #ELASTIC and 6G-PATH joint webinar are now available. The session, titled “Intelligent Orchestration across the Edge–Cloud Continuum”, brought together stakeholders from the #6G, edge–cloud, orchestration, research and innovation communities. The webinar explored how future services can be deployed securely and efficiently across cloud, edge, far-edge and IoT environments, with presentations on #MIRO for AI-native multi-domain resource orchestration and #Propeller for lightweight WebAssembly-based orchestration. The discussion also highlighted key priorities for future edge–cloud infrastructures, including scalability, security, interoperability and real-world use cases.
