Evergreen Health joined Senator April Baskin, Assembly Member Harry Bronson, and additional partners in Albany this week for a press conference calling for equitable access to housing for people living with HIV across New York State. As seen in The Buffalo News, Associate Vice President of Supportive Services, Stephanie Vroman-Goodrich, LMSW, highlighted the urgent need to expand housing assistance for communities outside of New York City:  "Evergreen has been a leading provider of medical and support services for people living with HIV in Western New York since 1983. We know that following a health regimen is hard if you're worried about where you're going to stay at night," she said. "Despite our best efforts, the HIV housing funding in our area is simply unable to meet the needs and we regularly manage a waiting list. We know that housing is healthcare and without it, health outcomes suffer." ICYMI: Evergreen Health was proud to stand alongside Senator Zellner and Congressman Kennedy, as well as fellow community health leaders, at a press conference last week in support of protecting the 340B Drug Pricing Program. As reported by Buffalo Toronto Public Media, President and CEO Ray Ganoe emphasized the essential role of 340B in sustaining care for the communities we serve: “340B has allowed safety net providers like Evergreen to purchase medication at a discount and reinvest those savings directly into patient care at no cost to taxpayers. Let me be clear: 340B is not a bonus; it is a lifeline. Those savings support funding for wraparound services like care coordination, mental health services, nutrition support, transportation, housing, food pantry services, outreach that keeps people connected and so much more.” Thank you, Senator Zellner, Congressman Kennedy, and our partners for working alongside us to protect this critical program and advance health equity in our region. Evergreen’s partnership with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center to advance smoking cessation treatment is featured in the April edition of Buffalo Healthy Living. Through our participation in the Health Systems for a Tobacco-Free Western New York (HSTFWNY) program, we’ve strengthened our approach to addressing tobacco use, resulting in higher patient quit rates and maintained long-term success. The article also highlights insights from Helen Graves, health & wellness counselor and tobacco treatment specialist, who shared, “Evergreen welcomes everyone, whatever their health and wellness goals may be. Meet Our Semi-Finalists! Evergreen Health: Enhancing Access to Pharmacy Services for East Buffalo & Other Underserved Communities Evergreen Health is developing a new service site at 3070 Bailey Avenue, opening in mid-2026, to expand supportive, pharmaceutical, and clinical services in the Kensington-Bailey neighborhood of East Buffalo. A central feature of the site is a community pharmacy serving an area identified as a pharmacy desert. A grant from the 21st Century Fund will support an electric pharmacy delivery vehicle to provide medications to Medicaid recipients, older adults, and medically underserved residents. The electric vehicle will further Evergreen Health’s support for cleaner and healthier communities by helping to limit air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. With nearly 30% of Buffalo households lacking a car and recent Rite Aid closures, many lower-income residents have limited access to essential medications. The delivery vehicle is expected to serve roughly 6,000 patients, averaging 70 deliveries per day. The pharmacy and delivery service will be open to the community, reducing barriers to medication access, improving adherence, and supporting patients facing transportation, mobility, and socioeconomic challenges.
