Yesterday’s Massachusetts Manufacturing Community Symposium brought together manufacturers, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and resource providers for a conversation focused on strengthening the future of manufacturing across the Commonwealth.
Hosted in partnership with the Town of Billerica and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the event highlighted the programs, partnerships, and resources available to help small manufacturers grow, innovate, and compete.
Thank you to keynote speaker Geoffrey Grove, SBA National Advocate for Manufacturing, Energy & Technology, for sharing insights on critical issues impacting manufacturers, including cybersecurity, energy, technology adoption, and the future of U.S. manufacturing. We also appreciate our panelists from Allium, American Insulated Panel, Fabri., and Rennscot MFG for sharing their experiences and lessons learned on building and scaling successful manufacturing companies.
Key Takeaways:
🔐 Cybersecurity is Critical – Manufacturers navigating defense supply chains must prepare for evolving requirements like CMMC and protect critical information to remain competitive.
⚙️ Process Comes Before Technology – Panelists emphasized the importance of strengthening operations, improving processes, and building a strong foundation before investing in new equipment or emerging technologies.
👷 Talent Remains a Top Challenge – Workforce shortages continue to impact manufacturers, highlighting the need for stronger connections between employers, training providers, and workforce organizations.
🚀 Manufacturing is Entering a New Era – From advanced manufacturing and additive technologies to clean energy innovation, Massachusetts companies are helping drive the future of American manufacturing.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, exhibited, and contributed to the conversation around the future of manufacturing in Massachusetts!
