  • We have an immediate opening for a Reading Specialist at Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School in Falls Church, Virginia — and we're hoping the right person is somewhere in this network. Falls Church City Public Schools is a small, International Baccalaureate continuum district serving approximately 2,700 students across five schools. Small means something here: teachers know each other, collaboration is built into the culture, and the community — families, staff, and city — is genuinely invested in the schools. The Reading Specialist role sits at the heart of that mission. We're looking for someone who brings both the instructional expertise and the relational skills to meet students where they are and move them forward. If you're a literacy professional looking for a district where your work will be seen, supported, and valued — we'd like to talk. Apply at https://lnkd.in/enV_bmzg Immediate consideration for all qualified applicants. If this isn't the right fit for you, we'd be grateful for a share. The right candidate may be one connection away. #ReadingSpecialist #LiteracyEducation #NowHiring #FallsChurchVA #IBEducation #K12Jobs #EducationJobs

  • 🏛️ Celebrating Excellence in Education 🏛️ We're proud to spotlight Mount Daniel Elementary's Gail Bodner, who completed the prestigious White House History Teacher Institute this summer—joining just 60 educators nationwide selected for this honor. What made this special: ✨ Exclusive after-hours White House tour led by a curator ✨ Collaboration with passionate educators from across the country ✨ Deep dive into White House history and educational resources The ripple effect: Gail's innovative curriculum development—creating resources for the "White House Clubhouse" chapter book—caught the attention of the selection committee. Now she's bringing that learning directly to her students. This fall, she's collaborating on project-based learning activities exploring patriotic symbols, enhancing civics instruction with diplomatic arts insights, and has arranged pen pal relationships with a Texas classroom. The ultimate success: Last week, Mount Daniel's second-grade classes visited The People's House: A White House Experience in downtown D.C.—bringing Gail's professional development full circle to student impact. "I feel so energized from the week at the institute. I am inspired by the education team at the association as well as the group of educators I was learning alongside." - Gail Bodner #EducationExcellence #ProfessionalDevelopment #WhiteHouseHistory #CollaborativeLearning #FCCPS #TeacherSpotlight #StudentSuccess

  • Meridian High School Welcomes Joanna Quirine as New Director of Student Activities Meridian High School is excited to announce the appointment of Joanna Quirine as the school's new Director of Student Activities (DSA), effective immediately. Ms. Quirine brings extensive experience in educational leadership, athletics administration, and student development to her new role overseeing all aspects of student activities and athletics at MHS. "We are thrilled to welcome Joanna Quirine to our Meridian and Falls Church community," said Principal Peter Laub. "Her emphasis on character development, organizational alignment, and interpersonal connections made her stand out during our selection process. We're confident her leadership will greatly benefit MHS and make positive contributions for our staff, community, and most importantly, our students." Ms. Quirine joins Meridian from Herndon High School, where she served as Health and Physical Education Department Chair while also coaching golf and softball. Her comprehensive background in both academic and athletic leadership positions her well to guide MHS student activities programs. Prior to her role at Herndon, Ms. Quirine served as Athletic Director at Friendly Senior High School in Prince Prince George's County, where she successfully managed all facets of the athletic department, including staffing, compliance, budgeting, and community engagement. Her experience extends to planning and mentoring both instructional and coaching staff, managing departmental budgets, and serving on school instructional councils to shape policy and promote educational improvement. "Ms. Quirine's ability and experience in leading teams, cultivating inclusive environments, and implementing strategic initiatives makes her a powerful addition to our leadership team," noted Principal Laub. Ms. Quirine holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision with a specialization in Athletics Administration and is a Certified Athletic Administrator. Her credentials reflect her commitment to professional excellence and her dedication to supporting student-athletes and activity participants. The appointment follows a comprehensive search process that began earlier this school year after the departure of former Athletic Director Brian Parke to a neighboring school division. The robust selection process focused on finding a leader who could effectively serve both the school division and the broader Falls Church community. In her new role, Ms. Quirine will oversee all student activities and athletics programs at Meridian High School, working to maintain the school's tradition of excellence while fostering character development and providing meaningful opportunities for student engagement and growth. The MHS community looks forward to Ms. Quirine's leadership as she begins this important role in supporting Meridian's students and student-athletes.
