I’m excited to announce Knit Health, AI that learns from real clinical decision-making. Knit is building a new kind of healthcare AI company: one that combines frontier-model R&D with real-world products designed for health systems. Our approach learns from the decisions clinicians make every day, the choices embedded in how they diagnose, treat, and route patients. That pattern of decision-making is a new form of clinical intelligence, one that guides patients to the right care, at the right time, with the right information. We’re taking a different approach, powered by our proprietary Large Clinical Behavior Model (LCBM) – trained on EMR data from over 130 million patients across 30 U.S. health systems and built with full HIPAA compliance. Rather than relying on static text, our model learns from how clinicians actually make decisions in the real world and uses that experience to guide patient care. Today, after extensive development and early co-building with healthcare partners, we’re launching Knit and beginning the next phase of work: developing and applying our models with more healthcare organizations across areas like revenue optimization, triage, patient flow, and quality improvement. This moment wouldn’t be possible without my brilliant co-founders: Maya Petersen, Jonas Knecht, and Ted Robertson. Their long track record of academic and public sector success got us to where we are today. I am also deeply grateful to rest of the leadership team, Sophie Pinkard, Anshul Amar and Midori Uehara, who are helping Knit build to its vision for the future of healthcare. Every advancement in healthcare should ultimately serve the patient. That is what encourages me about Modicus Prime. As more pharmaceutical and healthcare organizations adopt AI, the question is not simply how fast these tools can move. It is whether they can be used safely, responsibly, and in a way that earns trust. She emphasized the importance of convening the right voices at the right time and encouraged participants to engage in thoughtful, two-way dialogue that moves beyond discussion and toward actionable solutions. Lisa Hawke, Partner at Holland & Knight LLP, provided a policy and economic overview, noting growing fiscal pressure on federal programs and the central role of cost containment in shaping healthcare policy. She emphasized affordability concerns and the need to redesign care for high-need populations that drive a disproportionate share of costs. Mark Tipps, Partner & COO at Frist Cressey Ventures, moderated a panel with Elizabeth Jurinka, Operating Director of Healthcare Policy at The Vistria Group, and Monica Popp, Founding Partner at Marshall & Popp. The discussion highlighted healthcare as a central political issue, driven by affordability concerns, rising costs, and its influence on voter behavior and stakeholder engagement.
