Transforming Education for our Children
About us
Mission: We are a coalition of education advocates dedicated to ensuring all San Antonio children have access to an excellent public education and greater prosperity for their futuro (future). By harnessing the power of community, we will promote civic engagement, invest in leadership capacity, and organize a grassroots movement. Vision: Too many zip codes lack equitable access to high-quality public schools, limiting opportunities for underserved communities. Our vision for San Antonio’s futuro (future) is to lead as a model of world- class education for all. Together, we aspire to build a collaborative ecosystem, shaped by the voices of students and families, to achieve community-wide prosperity and transform education.

Earlier this week, we hosted District 7 Councilwoman Marina Alderete Gavito for a conversation about the future of education in San Antonio. 💙 We talked about what families need most—including reliable transportation to school—and learned more about the student bus pass pilot program she launched with VIA, which has already helped distribute nearly 1,000 free semester bus passes to students ages 12–18 across our city. We’re grateful to the Councilwoman and her team for taking the time to listen, connect with families, and invest in solutions that help students show up and succeed. We look forward to continuing this work together to ensure every child in San Antonio has access to a high-quality public school option. #ShowUpSA #RideVIA

Last week, our VP of Advocacy & Education Organizing, Ruben De Los Santos, had the chance to travel to Washington, D.C. to participate in the KIPP Foundation Spring 2026 Hill Day with four incredible members of our Family Advocacy Team: Lori Alvarez, Amanda Pierre, Raissa Dominguez, and Herlinda Aguilar. After a full day of training, they walked the halls of the U.S. Capitol and sat across from members of Congress and their staff to speak directly on urgent issues: federal funding for education, access to increased mental health support, and the real, daily impact that federal policies, such as immigration enforcement, are having on our school communities. At Futuro San Antonio, we believe families are not just stakeholders, they are experts, advocates, and changemakers. To Lori, Amanda, Raissa, and Herlinda: thank you for representing our families and our city with such grace and conviction. We are beyond proud to stand alongside you in this work. #FuturoSA #HillDay2026 #KIPPFoundation #SanAntonio #EducationAdvocacy

At this year's Public Health Summit held by The University of Texas at San Antonio Kate Marmion School of Public Health in partnership with Bexar County Public Health, our Executive Director Daiana Lambrecht and Ruben De Los Santos led a session on “Listening to Families, Transforming Attendance". In the presentation, they shared what parents and caregivers across the city have been telling us: transportation challenges, mental health needs, and other systemic barriers all shape whether a child makes it to school each day. At Futuro, we believe chronic absenteeism isn’t just an education issue, it’s also a public health issue, a systems issue, and ultimately, a civic responsibility to address. We're grateful to see our work represented in spaces like this, and we're excited to continue to push the conversation on enacting local policy to improve K-12 education forward!

"The question is not which system wins. The question is whether our students succeed." Futuro San Antonio's Executive Director, Daiana Lambrecht, published an op-ed in the San Antonio Express-News making the case for why San Antonio's education conversation must move beyond institutional rivalry and center on student outcomes. Some key points she raises: - 50,104 San Antonio public school students (roughly 20%) are enrolled in D- or F-rated campuses this school year - Those gaps fall disproportionately on students from historically underserved communities - 25% of San Antonio students now attend public charter schools or in-district choice campuses - Families are navigating these decisions in real time, researching schools the way they research doctors or colleges Her argument is pro-student. Every public school, whether district, innovation, or charter, must earn family trust through results, not tradition. San Antonio has an opportunity to lead with clarity and purpose if we align around student success rather than institutional preservation.
