Meet the Innovation: Greif’s ModCan™ Containment System Our member Greif is bringing a practical innovation to waste management with the ModCan™ Containment System, designed to make handling laboratory and hazardous waste safer, more efficient and more space-conscious. Originally developed by a lab technician to solve challenges in his own waste management process, ModCan™ uses a wedge-shaped design that allows 170L of a 208L drum to be utilized, compared with the conventional 4 × 20L configuration. For bioscience and laboratory environments, ModCan™ can help: 🔹 Reduce employee exposure to hazardous materials 🔹 Separate multiple waste streams within a single drum 🔹 Reduce the number of shipments and waste management costs 🔹 Improve workplace ergonomics and safety ModCan™ is already being used by hospitals and laboratories for applications including HPLC and centrifuge diagnostic equipment, with potential applications for biological, chemical and nuclear waste. During Greif Week at Recreation Unlimited, the Greif Foundation helped make residential summer camp possible for 24 youth with developmental and/or physical disabilities. “Camp gives kids a world of good. Greif Week 2026 at Recreation Unlimited was filled with adventure, laughter, and new friendships.
