About us

Seeking to put God's love into action HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF GREATER NASHVILLE brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Habitat family partnerships enable dignity of life for those who choose it and work to achieve it, help to create safer neighborhoods for more children, and facilitate a pathway of hope for those we serve. The success of our mission is ensured through the generous help of our caring community of donors and volunteers who help us Build Better Lives. Since our founding in 1985, Habitat of Greater Nashville has built or recycled more than 850 homes locally for purchase by families and individuals who cannot afford a conventional home loan. Habitat of Greater Nashville has won 11 consecutive ENERGY STAR awards for Excellence in Affordable Housing from the EPA. Dickson, Cheatham, and Wilson counties are part of Greater Nashville's service outreach. Habitat of Greater Nashville offers three ReStore locations, a greatly expanded Nashville location at 414 Harding Place with over 35,000 square feet of inventory space, where new and gently used items are resold to the public to help support the ministry. Your support is needed to help continue this important work in building and renovating homes for hard-working families. Visit our website at www.habitatnashville.org for more information, and for the ReStore locations, to make a donation, or get more information about volunteer opportunities.

  • Community partnership in action. Members of YP Nashville, a regional initiative dedicated to engaging, connecting, and empowering young professionals, recently volunteered with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville at Pope Leo Village. Working side by side on the build site, volunteers helped construct wall panels that will soon become part of affordable homes for local families. This is what it looks like when leadership, service, and community come together with purpose. We are grateful to YP Nashville for investing time, skills, and energy into shaping a stronger future for our region. #CommunityPartnership #YPNashville #PopeLeoVillage #PopeLeoVillageNashville #AffordableHousing #VolunteerImpact #HabitatForHumanity

  • Today’s build in Ashland City, TN (Cheatham County) is a great example of what strong partnerships make possible. Teams from TriStar Ashland City Medical Center and United Way of Greater Nashville spent the day painting, helping move future homeowners Delores and Smitty closer to purchasing their home. At Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville, this work extends across five Middle Tennessee counties: Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Robertson, and Wilson. Each build reflects a shared commitment to community partnership, volunteer engagement, and expanding access to affordable homeownership. Thank you to all our partners and volunteers for investing your time and talent where it matters. HCA Healthcare United Way of Greater Nashville

  • What does leadership look like at Habitat of Greater Nashville? It looks like Board and Advisory Council members stepping onto the build site in Antioch, TN, working alongside staff and volunteers to help create affordable homeownership opportunities in our region. This hands-on commitment reflects the heart of our mission, bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. We are grateful for leadership that leads by example and invests both time and talent in building stronger neighborhoods. #HabitatForHumanity #HabitatNashville #LeadershipByExample #AffordableHousing #CommunityImpact #NonprofitLeadership

  • On Sunday, March 22, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville celebrated the accomplishments of eight new homeowners during a dedication ceremony at Park Preserve in North Nashville. The event marked the completion of the final homes in the neighborhood and a significant milestone for families who worked diligently to achieve the stability and opportunity that homeownership provides. The ceremony also included a moment of recognition for Danny Herron, President and CEO of Habitat of Greater Nashville, whose leadership has helped make moments like this possible for 16 years. Metro Councilmember Kyonzte Toombs presented Danny with a resolution honoring his service, with Metro Councilmember Jennifer Gamble and Tennessee Housing Development Agency Executive Director Ralph Perrey offering remarks. This dedication was Danny’s final ceremony before his retirement later this year. In his remarks, he encouraged the community to continue serving one another and to remain committed to showing up for their neighbors. Park Preserve is a reminder that lasting communities are built when neighbors, partners, and homeowners come together with a shared purpose.

  • 🏡 “For the first time since my boys have been born, they will finally have their own rooms.” This past weekend in Wilson County, we had the honor of celebrating Sharonda at her Habitat dedication ceremony, marking a meaningful milestone on her journey to homeownership. “I am excited, beyond excited. Purchasing my new home is literally a dream come true.” Sharonda’s story reflects what is possible when determination and community come together. Through hard work, financial preparation, and commitment, she is stepping into a future defined by stability, confidence, and opportunity. • “What makes me happiest about purchasing this new home is what it represents—security, independence, and a future full of possibility.” Earlier this month in Springfield, Tennessee, we celebrated Ashlee’s Habitat for Humanity home dedication—a meaningful milestone shaped by patience, perseverance, and partnership. After months of learning, hard work, and investing in her future, Ashlee stepped into a home that represents far more than four walls. “It’s not just a structure,” Ashlee shared. “It’s a place to grow, to gather, and to build a life.” We are grateful to the volunteers, sponsors, staff, and supporters who walked alongside Ashlee throughout this journey. Moments like these reflect the power of community collaboration and the lasting impact of affordable homeownership. Congratulations on this milestone, Ashlee. Welcome home. #HabitatForHumanity #AffordableHomeownership #CommunityImpact #RobertsonCountyTN #SpringfieldTN

  • Building Dreams, Creating Roots Home is more than a physical structure. It is a place where families grow, dreams take shape, and roots are planted. Josh, a new Habitat homeowner, shares what this opportunity means to him: “I want a space to call my own and the opportunity to create a real sense of community and roots. I’d like to start a family and have a safe and spacious environment to do that in.” Stories like Josh’s remind us why affordable homeownership matters. Every Habitat home provides more than shelter. It offers stability, opportunity, and a foundation for a brighter future. #HabitatForHumanity #AffordableHomeownership #CreatingCommunity
