Thank you to the Orange County Business Journal for organizing a night to celebrate CFOs and the important role they play within their organizations. With more than 600 business leaders in attendance, it was inspiring to see Orange County’s finance community recognized. Today’s CFOs help organizations balance strategy, operations, risk management, leadership, and growth in constantly changing times, making their role more important than ever. The evening’s honorees were funny, inspiring, and a great reminder of the impact strong financial leadership can have on an organization and its people. Congratulations to Public Company CFO winner Jim Watkins of Boot Barn, Private Company CFO winner Anna M. Ricardo of MeriCal®, Nonprofit CFO winner Larry Gwilt of Orange County Rescue Mission, Rising Star Kate Nguyen, CPA of Onterris, and Lifetime Achievement honoree Ann Fong Wildes of Z SUPPLY. We were also proud to celebrate our own CFO, Eleanor Schultz, on her nomination. It was a great evening celebrating alongside Wayne Pinnell, Faheem Sorathia, and Meagan Hayes, and recognizing the outstanding finance professionals across our business community.

There’s only one weekend left to catch The Maltese Falcon before it closes on May 3! If you’re looking for something different, this is worth adding to your plans. This fast-paced, clever twist on a classic features five incredibly talented actors taking on more than 20 roles in a whirlwind of mystery, humor, and film noir flair. The live Foley artist is an incredible addition, bringing sound effects to life in real time and adding another layer of creativity to the performance. The timing, physical comedy, and sheer versatility on stage make this one especially fun to watch. We’re proud to support The Laguna Playhouse and the creativity they continue to bring to our community. Thank you, Laguna Playhouse, for the wonderful evening!

If you are expecting a tax refund this year, make sure your return includes direct deposit information. The IRS stopped issuing most paper refund checks after September 30, 2025. Taxpayers whose returns were filed without bank account information may receive Notice CP53E, requesting they add direct deposit details through their IRS online account. Those who do not respond within 30 days; the IRS will issue a paper check six weeks after the date the notice was issued. If you expect a refund, keep an eye out for IRS correspondence and respond promptly if you receive a CP53E notice.

Opening Night at South Coast Repertory never disappoints, and God of Carnage was no exception. The Haskell & White team had a fantastic evening filled with sharp dialogue, incredible performances, and great conversation with clients and friends. There’s something special about experiencing live theatre together. Congratulations to SCR on staging two Tony Award-winning plays, God of Carnage and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Both productions run through March 21 — and yes, you can even see both in one day (we truly don’t know how the actors pull that off!). We’re proud to continue supporting SCR and the arts in our community. 📸 Sharing a few favorite moments from the evening below. 🎟Tickets are available at www.scr.org #SCRFirstNight #SupportTheArts #CorporateArtsPatron #LifeatHaskellWhite
