We are proud of the impact we have in our communities through employment, investment and charitable giving. HCA Healthcare is a learning health system that uses our approximately 47 million annual patient encounters to advance science, improve patient care and save lives. At HCA Healthcare, we are excited about the future of medicine. We believe we are uniquely positioned to play a leading role in the transformation of care. 🤝 During April’s We Show Up for Our Communities days of service initiative, nearly 9,800 HCA Healthcare colleagues dedicated more than 41,800 volunteer hours to support 1,866 nonprofit organizations nationwide — demonstrating the impact we can make when we come together to serve our communities. “Caring for our communities is at the heart of HCA Healthcare,” said Virginia Tenpenny, vice president of community engagement at HCA Healthcare and president of the HCA Healthcare Foundation. “’We Show Up for Our Communities’ reflects the strong commitment our colleagues have to serving others, not only in our hospitals, but also in the neighborhoods where we live and work.” From supporting food banks and schools to serving local nonprofits focused on health, education and basic needs, colleagues across the country gave their time and expertise during National Volunteer Month. In HCA Healthcare’s hometown of Nashville alone, nearly 3,000 colleagues contributed almost 13,500 volunteer hours across the city. ➡️ Learn more about this year’s We Show Up for Our Communities initiative: https://bit.ly/49KSNNZ. #WeShowUp #HCACares

  • During Mental Health Awareness Month and National Nurses Month, we are proud to recognize HCA Healthcare nurses who help foster a workplace where colleagues feel seen, heard and supported. Meet Saeed Mahmoud, a staff nurse at The Wilmslow Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare UK. Saeed is one of more than 100 mental health first aiders across HCA Healthcare UK. Trained and accredited by MHFA England®, these colleagues serve as confidential points of contact — listening, offering reassurance and helping connect colleagues with appropriate support. Saeed sees this work as a natural extension of his role as a nurse. “Knowing someone cares can make all the difference,” he shared. • On this #FeelGoodFriday during #HospitalWeek, we are shining a light on a father-daughter duo at 🏥 HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital and their shared commitment to care. Brandon, an IT director, has been with HCA Healthcare for 30 years, including the past eight years at the Fort Pierce, Florida hospital. Now, he has the opportunity to work alongside his daughter, Andee, a nurse extern who will officially join the hospital’s trauma neuro care unit next month as a registered nurse. Before she ever put on scrubs, Andee was a trauma patient in this very hospital. During one of the most vulnerable moments of her life, a nurse sat with her and said everything was going to work out. It was that moment that made her feel comfortable and inspired her career path. “That’s why I wanted to do what I do now,” Andee shared. For Brandon, seeing his daughter choose HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital speaks volumes. “It’s awesome being able to see her and I’m so proud of her,” he said. “Having her here, it’s a testament that it’s a great place to work. When she started nursing school, I told her this was the place to be.” Their story is a reminder of the dedication, compassion and purpose we see every day across the HCA Healthcare network — and how care can inspire the next generation. #CareLikeFamily

This #HospitalWeek, we’re proud to shine a light on the newest hospital in the HCA Healthcare family,🏥HCA Florida Gainesville Hospital! The Gainesville, Florida hospital recently opened its doors, becoming the first full-service hospital built in the area in more than 50 years. With a $235 million, 90-bed campus designed to support clinical excellence and exceptional patient experience, the hospital will help expand access to high-quality emergency, surgical and specialty care for the growing community. The celebration also reflected HCA Healthcare’s commitment to supporting health beyond hospital walls. Through a grant from the HCA Healthcare Foundation, HCA Florida North Florida Hospital is providing 53 CPR in School Training Kits to area high schools, helping students learn Hands-Only CPR, basic first aid and life-saving skills that can make a difference in an emergency. • At HCA HealthONE Swedish, 320 collective years of pharmacy experience are helping shape safer, smarter patient care. This #HospitalWeek, we’re proud to recognize the Englewood, Colorado hospital’s pharmacy team — a powerful example of long-standing dedication in action. Through trusted collaboration with physicians, measurable impact on patient care and a commitment to advancing the role of pharmacists in healthcare, this team continues to show what it means to care like family. “When I joined HCA HealthONE Swedish as a staff pharmacist more than 30 years ago, things were quite different compared to today. What hasn’t changed in that time is our team’s dedication to the patient and to each other,” said Gwen Blatnak, an advanced clinical pharmacist on the team. Thank you to this incredible team for the expertise, partnership and purpose you bring to patients and colleagues every day. #CareLikeFamily #HCAHealthcare #NationalHospitalWeek

  • For 50 years, HCA Healthcare nurse and house supervisor Phyllis Akins has built a career defined by both growth, learning and connection — all while caring for patients at Medical City Healthcare Lewisville and the Texas communities it serves. Phyllis’ journey mirrors the evolution of the hospital itself. She joined the team just two months after it opened and has taken on a variety of roles since, including a vocational nurse and charge nurse in the intensive care unit. Throughout her career, Phyllis has seen the hospital transform from a small one-floor facility to the full-service acute-care hospital it is today — caring for generations of families and supporting colleagues along the way. “I’ve cared for a lot of our community,” she shared. “Now I care for their children and grandchildren.” As National Nurses Week comes to a close, we’re proud to celebrate Phyllis’ extraordinary legacy of steady, compassionate care. 📽️ Watch as she reflects on 50 years of caring for others and read more nursing stories on “HCA Healthcare Today”: https://bit.ly/3PtOnEg. #NursesWeek #HCANurses

  • This Nurses Week, we’re celebrating caregivers like Sarah Owensby, an emergency department nurse at HCA Healthcare’s Reston Hospital in Virginia, whose compassion sparked a new way to enhance patient-centered care. When Sarah cared for an HCA Virginia Health System patient who was not speaking, she paused and recognized that her traditional actions did not prompt a response. Drawing on her background of working with children with special needs, she responded with curiosity and care — focusing not on getting answers, but on creating a connection. Using simple tools like a communications board, along with yes-or-no questions, Sarah built trust. “That moment stayed with me,” she shared. Inspired by the experience, Sarah developed a sensory cart for the emergency department, equipping colleagues with tools like fidget items, weighted lap pads and visual aids to support patients with communication barriers or sensory sensitivities. During #NursesWeek and beyond, stories like this highlight the difference nurses make every day. • Behind every milestone is a colleague who cares. This Hospital Week, we’re celebrating our team members across HCA Healthcare — like Betty Nunez, who works in health information management and medical records at Methodist Hospital Metropolitan in San Antonio, Texas. Since 1975, Betty has signed more than 180,000 birth certificates at the Methodist Healthcare System hospital. Through this work, she plays a meaningful role in the first milestone in the lives of our tiniest patients and their families. She has seen the evolving trends of popular names like Michael and Jennifer of 1975 to today’s popular names of Liam and Olivia. Over the decades, one thing has remained constant: Betty’s name on each one. We are grateful for colleagues like Betty, whose legacy reminds us that every role plays a part in caring for our patients, supporting our teams and making a lasting impact. #NationalHospitalWeek

  • During Hospital Week, we’re proud to celebrate colleagues across our HCA Healthcare network who make a difference in the lives of those we serve every day. HCA Healthcare is a leading healthcare network of approximately 320,000 colleagues — united by a shared commitment to care for patients and support our communities. That commitment is what #WeShowUp is all about – recognizing the compassion, dedication and heart our colleagues bring to every moment of care. To our colleagues, thank you for showing up to make that care possible. #NationalHospitalWeek
