    In a member-only discovery session, BioPhorum IT Digital and Data recently explored how AI agents can be engineered to deliver real, GMP-aligned value in biomanufacturing. Led by Invert, the discovery session brought together more than 50 industry leaders from 30 companies to go beyond AI hype and examine what it takes to deploy AI safely, effectively and at scale in manufacturing environments. Arianna Kalkandis and Masaki Yamada (Invert) presented key themes including: - The critical role of strong data foundations and standardization - Why context engineering and prompt design matter as much as model choice - How AI agents must operate as decision-support tools, not autonomous decision-makers - The importance of traceability, evaluation frameworks and continuous performance monitoring to build trust in AI outputs Real-world examples, from development phase data analysis to deviation root cause investigations, generated thoughtful discussion, which will be continued within BioPhorum IT Digital and Data working group sessions.
