Based on improving climate conditions reported by the National Weather Service in our area, all JPS schools and district offices will reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27. However, instead of an 80% day as originally scheduled, schools will operate on a full day. After school activities and programs will resume tomorrow as well. Also, it will be an A-day for secondary scholars. With continued low temperatures expected, we encourage scholars to dress warmly and in layers, especially those at bus stops. We look forward to welcoming our scholars and staff back for a full day of teaching and learning.

Now, the JPS-Tougaloo Early College High School // Murrah High - JPS senior and Student Board Representative had the privilege of letting her voice be heard a JPS board meeting on January 20. Anna is one of several leaders who are making sure all scholars feel send and heard in decisions that impact their education. You're a star, Anna! Keep shining. ✨ 👏 We are proud of all board representatives: • Khalyse Johnson, Forest Hill • Artis Johnson, Murrah • Kaitlynn Bingham-Henderson, Provine • Layla Ba, Callaway • Zy'Quria McClendon, Lanier Jr. Sr. • Emaleigh Wilson, Jim Hill • Zariah Wilson, Jackson Middle College City of Jackson - Government Hinds County Sheriff's Office Mississippi Legislative Black Caucus

We love it when service, creativity, and community come together. 💙🎨 On MLK Day, the Junior League of Jackson turned their Day of Service into real impact, from supporting literacy and healthcare partners to uplifting scholars at Green Elementary. More than 30 JLJ volunteers spent the day creating two beautiful, inspirational murals and helping organize the library. Green Elementary Principal Dr. Jamaka Holman shared that the murals are already bringing new life to the hallways and will inspire imagination, joy, and confidence in our scholars every single day. As an arts integrated Mississippi Whole School, Green lives to make learning fun, creative, and meaningful. Thank you to the Junior League of Jackson and every volunteer who gave their time, talent, and heart. Our school feels brighter, warmer, and more welcoming because of you. #JPSJOY 🤩

Big news for our scholars and our libraries! 🎉 Jackson Public Schools has been named the 2025–2026 Richard M. Robinson Literacy Champion by Scholastic and the Council of the Great City Schools. That means Shirley Elementary is getting a full library makeover, more than 6,000 new books, and every scholar will take home a 10-book summer pack to keep and read. Plus, scholars will have 24/7 access to thousands of digital books through Scholastic Literacy Pro. This honor celebrates the real progress happening in reading across our district and the powerful work happening in our classrooms every day. Literacy is the foundation, and our scholars are rising. #WeAreJPS #TalentedIndividuals&Team Full Story 📚 https://bit.ly/4bxcafa
