About us
JE Dunn Construction is a family- and employee-owned company and the sixth-largest domestic general contractor in the United States, with 26 offices nationwide. We provide construction management, design-build, and integrated construction services across a wide range of markets. From design and preconstruction through closeout, we work in close partnership with our clients to deliver safe, high-quality projects nationwide. Building authentic partnerships and a shared commitment to doing the right thing guides our work. John Ernest (Ernie) Dunn founded JE Dunn Construction Company in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1924. His philosophy was simple: Treat people fairly and offer clients quality service at a fair price. His vision and approach to conducting business still influence our people and our work today. Since our founding, JE Dunn has grown into a trusted partner with offices in 17 states. Our longevity and continued growth are a direct result of our people and the relationships they build every day. We take a resolute responsibility for our role in each project and for the communities we serve. At JE Dunn, people come first. As an employee-owned construction company, we’ve spent more than 100 years creating a culture of inclusion and belonging. Our success is powered by our people and our shared commitment to doing the right thing, giving back, and building authentic partnerships in the communities where we live and work. These principles drive our vision to enrich lives through inspired people and places. We believe successful projects start with people. Our teams take time to understand each client’s journey and remain flexible, accountable, and transparent from start to finish. Through unmatched communication and ongoing collaboration, we bring the right people and the right tools together to support informed decisions, reduce risk, and deliver outcomes aligned with project goals. 40 JE Dunn volunteers. 5 days. 24 families one step closer to homeownership. 🏠 Our team recently joined partners, community leaders, and neighbors in Atlanta’s Sylvan Hills neighborhood for the 50th Anniversary Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project with Habitat for Humanity International. Together, we helped build more than homes—we helped build futures while honoring the lasting legacy of President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter through one of Habitat for Humanity’s most impactful global service initiatives.
I’m proud to see our Atlanta team participate in the 50th Anniversary of the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project right here in our hometown last week. Throughout the week, five JE Dunn Construction volunteer teams joined partners to help support affordable housing efforts and continue the legacy President and Mrs. Carter created through decades of service. Projects may define what we build, but opportunities like this reflect who we are. Thank you to our volunteers, team captains, and partners who represented JE Dunn so well throughout the week. I’m grateful to be part of such a meaningful milestone for Atlanta and for Habitat for Humanity International. #CarterWorkProject #JEDunnGivesBack #JEDunnATL

We had a big night at both the Minnesota Real Estate Journal Awards and Minnesota Subcontractors Association Awards, bringing home six honors in total, including General Contractor of the Year from both organizations. Our own Rik Myhre earned Executive of the Year, while Steven Dueck, AC, LEED Green Associate was named Estimator of the Year at the MSA Awards. We also took home two project awards from MREJ. A huge thank you to our partners, clients, and the entire Minnesota team!

We are honored to announce that we have been awarded the 2025 Best In Class Safety Program within a highly competitive, global hyperscale data center program! This recognition is a testament to our "All In Together" leadership model and a culture that prioritizes the whole person—from proactive, data-driven safety and heat wellness to mental health support. By the numbers: - 8,000,000+ labor hours - 0.27 TRIR | 0.03 LTIR - One shared commitment: sending everyone home as safe, or better. A massive thank you to our Mission Critical team, our JV partners Haydon and Global Earthwork & Underground, and every craft professional and trade partner who brings our safety culture to life every single day.

Behind every live performance are countless hours of preparation, coordination and precision... but the venue itself plays a bigger role than most people realize. From acoustics and sightlines to lighting, staging and audience experience, our preconstruction, VDC, and Aptitude: Intelligent Integration teams work through every detail ahead of time, so everyone can focus on what matters most when the curtain goes up.

This National Hospital Week, we’re celebrating the hospitals, caregivers, and healthcare teams who make a difference in communities across the country every day. From new patient towers and emergency departments to specialty care and campus expansions, we’re honored to partner with healthcare organizations to build spaces that support exceptional care, innovation, and healing.

Construction Safety Week may be coming to a close, but we focus on safety every single day and that's what we'll keep doing. Because we know that safety requires commitment from everyone, everywhere, all the time. This week our project teams across the country reinforced our safety culture through safety stand-downs, toolbox talks, and strengthening partnerships to keep every jobsite safe.

We’re fortunate to work alongside incredible nurses every day who help bring world-class healthcare environments to life across the country. In honor of National Nurses Week, our healthcare teams wanted to take a moment to recognize a few who’ve made a lasting impact. To every nurse: thank you for the care, compassion, and dedication you bring to your patients and communities. We’re proud to build the spaces where that care happens.

Safety isn’t an option. It’s our standard. It’s built into how we work, how we lead, and how we show up for each other every day. Our teams create a culture of accountability and an “All In Together” mindset because safety takes everyone, everywhere, all the time. Construction Safety Week presents an opportunity to elevate the voices of our people who make safety more than a priority—they make it who we are—every day of the year.
