  • King’s Hawaiian was proud to support the Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation Kūlia I Ka Nuʻu Awards Banquet, the Foundation’s annual gathering that brings together alumni, business leaders, and community partners to celebrate excellence in public education.   As a company founded in Hawaiʻi and shaped by the values of aloha and ‘ohana, we believe strong communities begin with strong schools— and that educators deserve to be recognized and championed. In that spirit, we were honored to co-sponsor the Public Schools of Hawaiʻi Foundation’s Principal’s Award for the first time, an honor named for Masayuki Tokioka, a respected businessman, community leader, founder of Island Insurance, and proud graduate of Hawaiʻi’s public schools, helping spotlight the leadership that drives student success across the state.   Congratulations to Sheldon Konno of Waiʻanae Elementary, this year’s Masayuki Tokioka Excellence in School Leadership Award honoree. Mahalo as well to semifinalists Christopher Bonilla of Holomua Elementary and Adria Medeiros of Mountain View Elementary for their inspiring work and service.   We’re also proud that Winston Akira Taira represented King’s Hawaiian by presenting the award alongside Superintendent Keith Hayashi and Tyler Tokioka of Island Insurance, and that Winston joined the Foundation this year as a volunteer trustee.   Supporting educators means investing in Hawaiʻi’s future— and we’re grateful to stand alongside the Public Schools of Hawaiʻi Foundation in honoring the leaders who make a lasting difference in our communities.   #PublicSchoolsofHawaiiFoundation #IslandInsurance #KingsHawaiian

We’re proud to recognize Spencer Leung and Emerson Yoshida as recipients of the 2026 Chef Eric Koyama Student Scholarship, created specifically for students from Kapiʻolani Community College (KCC), and sponsored by King’s Hawaiian. Chef Eric Koyama was one of King’s Hawaiian’s first chefs in our Innovation team and played a foundational role in new product development, the design of our test kitchens, and our early innovation process. His passion for mentorship and education lives on through this scholarship. Created in partnership with the Culinology® Scholarship Foundation, this scholarship supports students enrolled in Research Chefs Association (RCA) approved Culinology degree programs at Kapiʻolani Community College and the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, providing the opportunity to attend the RCA Annual Conference & Culinology® Expo in Westminster, Colorado. Chef Jeremy Choo also joined the students at the conference, providing guidance and industry context while helping steward this scholarship in Chef Eric’s memory. We’re honored to continue Chef Eric's legacy of mentorship, innovation, and education by supporting students as they take the next step in their culinary journeys. #RCA #ResearchChefsAssociation #KapiolaniCommunityCollege #KingsHawaiian

  • Through our ongoing partnership with Mana Up, King’s Hawaiian is committed to supporting Hawaiʻi‑based founders and the local businesses shaping the future of the islands. We recently took part in the annual Mana Up Alumni Summit last month alongside Hawaiʻi‑based founders for a fireside chat on “What Makes a Brand Acquisition Ready?” The summit brought together alumni from Mana Up’s signature business accelerator program for a few days of continued learning and connection with community partners.  Mahalo Mana Up for welcoming us! We’re continually inspired by these founders investing in their teams and communities. #ManaUpAlumniSummit #KingsHawaiian
